Default Tamiya King Tiger questions

In the Tamiya King Tiger instructions it refers repeatedly to shaded in areas with the term "Coating seal"... what does this mean?

Also, Canadian Tire (hardware) up here in the Great White North only carries Loctite BLUE (not RED), will this work as a thread lock?

Thanks for your help!

The coating seal refer to the zimmerit sticker sheet that's included with the kit.

Googly's right on the Zimmerit, pics below, you should use the Treadlock that comes with the kit it is plastic safe.
This is a KT I've been working on forever and may help some. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7003543/tm.htm

The coating seal is Tamiya's lame attempt at stick on zimmerit. It doesn't look very realistic and I have heard there can be issues with peeling.

Avoid using the Loctite blue or red on your model. These materials are known to cause stress cracking in the styrene based plastic ( don't ask how I know...). Your best bet is to stick with the threadlocker that comes with the kit; it is compatible with the kit plastic.

Thanks guys, you've answered my questions! I was happy to read that there were KT's without the zimmerit as I didn't want to use it anyway.

Cheers,

I would suggest using Milliput if you want to add Zimmerit on your tank. Its real easy to use and costs around $3 for a pack.
