"I did it all for Sally"... I can only hope Sally appreciates my sacrifice, at least somewhat..

That is a nice looking Sherman. Maybe it's the Sally element, not sure, but I like it.

I especially like that frontal-side view shot. I don't know much about Shermans, I just know the difference between the VVSS and HVSS suspensions, maybe the guns, but that is about it. Is yours sporting the 105mm?

Did you guys know that Michael Knight rescued a girl who was locked inside a HVSS Sherman that was sitting on an ordinance testing range in one of the first season episodes of Knight Rider (fall of 1982). The plan was to use the Sherman for target practice while the girl was helplessly trapped inside it. Michael and KITT save the day and the girl of course. I happened to see it the other night on the Retro TV network. There in the show was this HVSS Sherman tank. I'm sure some of you would be able to tell exactly what model it was, but I have no idea.

This is a 76mm gun. Speaking of TV shows. I watched the Alien invasion movie, War of the Worlds this weekend, and guess what?. M4A1 76mm Shermans with HVSS suspension firing on the Alien invasion fleet.

Thanks for the comments guys. Right now I am undecided if Sally goes or stays, Maybe after weathering she will be better. Right now she just looks like a decal!!!!!

Very nice work. Both look great. I have assigned both my Shermans to צהל 'שראל Israel IDF. The former Tammy 105 is now a late 1960s M-51 and my new VVSS Sherman has become a late 50's M-50. Still have some touchup/cleanup, adding some periscopes and weathering, but they are coming alomng OK, The rear turret bussle counterweights were a real bear. In true Israel tradition, I have assigned appropriately attired female tankers to both. Great for morale. Israeli Shermans are very interesting. I was amazed at how many variations were made on so many A1,A2,A3,A4 and composite chassis. It seems there were never two exactly the same.

YHR how did you create the texture on your tank? Also, how did you do the "Berlin or Bust"lettering on the tank ? It looks great !

Wow, well done on the tanks, they look great! Obviously the IDF spent so much money on refitting the Shermans that there wasn't enough money left in the budget for uniforms for the female crew members.

The cast texture on the turret is made with Autobody spot filler. The lettering is drawn with chalk. I have since gone over it with a white sharpie paint pen. I have also fixed up the pin up gal to look like she is painted on.

Now comes the washes and weathering

http://www.jr.co.il/videos/israel-videos.htm

So who's complaining? Should visit Israel and check out the IDF tankers 1;1. These gals are ALL extremely beautiful, and VERY tough. Girls serve 21 months and though there's no mandatory combat duty for females, about 85% volunteer. Guys don't complain much either. Nothing unusual about seeing a couple beautys in a Merkava IV rolling down the road. Check out these sites.

YHR ..... Brilliant!! I just may use your technique for laying some "Cyrillic" on my Soviet Armour. A Tailor's "chalk pencil", sharpened to a point, should make putting on the base lettering a snap!

Pattoncommander....Are those all "Modellino" Ladies? They look fantastic!

YHR, if my Sherman ends looking half as good as yours I'll consider it a success. Did you ever try a better speaker and if so, did it help?

those figures are M&D www.motorheads4u.com Drew, the mgr has them posted on facebook...link at lower left on his site.

They are great figures in 1;18. I just repainted them. I just cut the lower torso on one cute blonde and she is now the driver of the M-50. I have 4 more but running out of helmets.

Thanks for the info, you've inspired me lol. Now I will have a source for my future KV's crew. Technically, I believe there were Russian tanks crewed by women during WWII. So, it wouldn't be stretching the truth too much. I could do a Summer tank, with the girls in their summer outfits

Those ALL male German tankers would be lining up their Tigers to be knocked out by them, and liking it too LOL. I'm afraid the Nazi tankers just don't have this crew option historically available to them.. Too bad haha. Liking Russian or Israeli armor does have its bonuses!

Really nice work there YHR. You have captured the "Cast metal" look very well. I'm also sure that I saw a similar tank with "Berlin or Bust" in the film "Bridge too Far".
It's great to see people modelling Shermans in this way.
There is, however, a fly in the ointment. Remember the factories only built HVSS one way for both sides of the Tank. In other words if they built them for the Port side of the Tank with the Damper oil reservoirs at the right of centre. Then when mounted on the Starboard side the oil reservoirs would still be right of centre when viewed from the Starboard side.
In other words the oil reservoirs are at the rear of the Bogie assembly on the Port side and at the front of the Bogie assembly on the Starboard side of the Tank.
I hope this helps.....Happy modelling.

All the best

Nick.,
