RE: I ordred a 1/16 M1A2 Abrams Tank
Ok update on the M1A2.
Battery fully charged took it out to Armor Rabbits place today and let him view and operate it. I'll let him post his findings himself. I took pics of it outside in his backyard. The conditions were well for a Tank awful. Cold, overcast, wet snow on the grass, the grass is thick and soaked...sooooo...what the hay. He drove through it and began to climb over anything he could find save for the dog. The Tank climbs very well considering the wet conditions. Rubber doesn't like wet icy slippery surfaces too well but on a 45 or 50 degree inclnie that is expected. The Tank was hard to steer in the semi frozen grass but that was no surprise. However with a more powerful battery or more powerful motors it would blow thru it np. Range was excellent and the Tank proceeded through the Terrain as Armor Rabbit was getting used to the stick steering. After about 25 minutes the Tank finally died. Poor thing. The wheels were full of slush and snow and was freezing up . The rear wheels and front wheels grooves were filled with semi frozen slush. I'm betting on better dryer surfaces and conditions this Tank would work much better. This thing has a clutch when the wheels bind up badly. Good thing too. Near the end of the trial run the wheels were basically froze. Maybe I should run this Tank in the desert where it belongs but I think the armor would melt(plastic.)
Opinion? Above expectations. Easy to handle and steer after a few moments of use. Fast, and great climbing and maneuverability.
Range excellent. Oh I errored in an earlier post that there was no engine sounds. Correcton. There is engine sounds. Occurs only when the Tank is moving. No idling engine noise. Hmmm stealth mode?
Anyway so far so good. More to come. Got pics to go along with this trial run from today. Check back later today or this evening. [8D]

You can get the T-90 in this scale and the German Leopard A6. The A6 turret is much longer with shield flaps that open and close for a more menacing appearance. I am already sourcing out pricing. Yes you can get other colors such as Nato, Forest Green.
That's where I do my modeling in that confined space. There are more TX's on the other side of the room on the wall. Hanging from the ceiling are about 50 plastic models of various types of aircraft and Sci-fi. Behind the Tanks is one of my RC combat Warships(10) in total. I got a TX for each Tank, 8 for the ships and Subs. Another 3 for the Helicopters and 1 for the plane.

That is PRETTY BIG compared to the Tiger II and looks nice too! I might get one just to gather dust for the size alone. If and when an opponent in 1/16th comes along I might then upgrade it.
Is there another choice besides the desert sand?
I like the line-up of radios on the wall in the background. Is that your hobby room?

Wait, I'm confused. What's an M2A6? And are we talking about the Russian modern MBT, the T-90?

Snowtank,
Thanks for the pics. I now have another tank to add to my wish list. I will be very interested in any upgrades you do, so I hope you continue sharing with us. Thanks again.

Tamiya does not make an Abrams track. I used the LEO 2A6 tracks. They cost me about 60.00 bucks I think it was. Not metal but by far tthe best track Tamiya makes hands down. You can use them with their Pershing sprockets and HL gearboxes.

[8D] I got the Tank opened up to have a peek inside. Here are the guts of it. I will make a mod to the battery compartment to hold a larger battery like a 7.2v 3000mah instead of the stock 7.2 800mah battery.

RE: I ordred a 1/16 M1A2 Abrams Tank
The battery mod compartment is complete. I forgot to take the pics before I closed the hull up. Oh well when I venture back inside to add more mods I will get them. I am impressed by how clean and well laid out the interior is . The wiring is neat and secured very well. The solder connections look strong. There's plenty of space for adding extra equipment or for a complete swap out. I thought the hull was more vulnerable to water penetration but was surprised to find it is well sealed . The exit holes for the suspension are very small compared to most HL tanks. This tank could be easily sealed up for crossing those streams. The battery door hatch as a finger size hole that would need to be sealed but other than that it would not take much. The electronics board looks well put together and secured very well. Overall very nice work and care went into the installation of the internals in this product. Very little glue monkey evidence that were all so accustomed to seeing. The Gear box looks interesting though plastic it is very smooth and strong. I can't see the motors but they are fast though. Stock wise this runs as fast as my Pantiger or faster. The spring system looks interesting. It may look small but it's not soft or springy. The Turret mechanism looks pretty good too. So far this Tank has surprised me. I expected a pretty low grade tank but it's turing out to be much better than that. A definte good subject for aftermarket mods.
So the checkmarks go for
Ordering and delivery. High here no issues and fast.
Packaging: Checkmark . Nice large package, good illustration. Product and contents well secured.
Paint: The Tank has a nice paint job with decent weathering. Some of the details like the bags and tarps are glossy but easily corrected for a more realistic touch.
Size: High marks here. Big and impressive.
Accuracy: Well I don't know a lot about these tanks but from what I seen it's pretty good. The Tracks are a downer in this area being made of rubber and the road wheels could use rubber liners.
Weight: Very light for it's size. Any upgrades with a huge weight increase springs should be swapped out for stronger springs.
Performance: High marks are on just a little battery.
Steering: Well for what it is it's decent. I would prefer the HL type of control with proportional steering and speeds.
Speed.: Fast but no proportional speed control. So no chck mark here. However it doesn't creep along as the 1/12 Abrams does.
Maneuverability. Excellent here .
Suspension. Good with the current weight load. No soft or spongy areas here.
Turret traverse. Works well but slow for an Abrams. Faster than a Mattoro KT though.
Barrel eleveation. Works great but I don't have precise control over it. It moves up and down and I have to toggle between 2 buttons for basically the same movement.
Barrel Recoil. : Great and fast. Really fast. You can control it by not hitting the fire button rapidly.
Firing mechanism. : Low marks here. Would have been better as an Airsoft bb unit .
TC MGunner: The Commander works well and I can adjuste where I want him to point just by turning him. I wouldn't recommend doing that a lot though you may break the mechanism that makes him revolve. However it is a cool effect and fun to watch him lay down suppresion fire.
MG: Big red light that works well lets you know your MG is working.
Antennae: Nicer than a wire antennae. You can evern lift and lower it easily with a tether attached so you don't lose it.
Sound: Works great for the guns. Not so great for the engine. No vol control and no IDLING engine sound. So low marks there.
Running time: Good for such a little battery.
Climbing: Excellent. Even with the rubber thin tracks. Surprised me. I never had any of ,my HL Tanks climb straight up over a large tire.
Transmitter. Good if you like tractor stick control. Sucks if you don't. If you can run a Mattorro T34/85 you can handle this Tank.
Internals.: High marks for clean, well secured and well laid out internals. Battery compartment access is very good but small. No room for a large standard 7.2 volt.
Motors. I think their small but it looks like there's a clutch system to prevent the gears from stripping.
Out of a scale of 1-10 I give it a 8+.
For the price and what you get this is a very good starter tank for basic running and learning and for starting upgrades.
and That's my review.
Cheers. [8D]

RE: I ordred a 1/16 M1A2 Abrams Tank
I saw the site. Wow that is an impressive store and product layout they have there. I checked on how much it would cost me to get this Tank. The SHIPPING is a lot more than the product. It would cost me over 90.00 us to ship the Tank here to Canada from CA. Converted to CDN that's about 100.00 for me to ship. My shipping cost was cheaper coming in from the U.K.
That just sucks. [&o]
I like the store though and they seem tohave a vast inventory of product there. Prices are good.

Ya, shipping looks a little steep, but it's still cheaper than from the U.K. for me. I'm thinking or ordering a M1A2 and a Leopard.
