KT Armored Exhaust Covers
Hey Brothers,
Took the KT apart to begin a detail upgrade. I used the WECOHE Covers # TAM0076.
The holes were drilled starting with a bit little larger than a hair and gradually moved up to a 5/64". I took great pains in drillingthe holes in the exact center of the indintation on the cast part. It all lined up and bolted together.
The threaded rods for the bolt studs have on one end a small hole for an allen wrench, so be sure you have that on the inside of the rear plate.
I checked five references for proper aligment. Still something does not look right. I think there is a difference in the measurments in the MATTO KT and the Tamiya KT. Maybe I'm just seeing things.
Best

RE: KT Armored Exhaust Covers
Don I installed these a week ago and they may not look straight however a straight edge across the top showed it to be dead on. They are extremely hard to get right the first time. I had to redrill holes on the left one to get it straight, need a little luck or better magnifying glassses to get it right the first time. I had to do some filing to get rid of ccasting lines. - Jerry

Hey Jw,
I found my booboo. When I tightened the first bolt the hole I drilled was too closeto the holefrom the plastic covers, it broke through without me noticing so that threw the other holes off just enough to be a slight bit higher. Good news is, it is a lesson learned.
Thanks
Don

Yeah that is a bear having that predrilled hole right next to the hole you need to drill. I decided the other 5 bolts should keep it straight.

All Fixed. I just elongated the holes a bit then it lined up just fine. Look good. Now I am etching a set of casting numbers and we should be good to go.
