Anyone here with elmod that can give advice?
Guys, I am looking to either use elmod or tamiya electronics for the Sherman I'm building. My question is this...I have purchased all the turret components from AAF museum for elevation and recoil. I want to know if anyone has used the Tamiya components with elmod. I want to be able to control the elevation likea Tamiya not the HL one direction stick and the barrel rotates on a cam.

I Don't think El mod and Tamiya play well together.

The latest El-Mod have a connector specifically for the tam recoil. Half defection up and down on channel 3 will move the barrel up and down (ie moves in both directions instead of one direction like the HL controls), so I don't see any reason why you couldn't use the Tam elevation with it.

Joe the stick works the same way with Tamiya electronics. just be cause you have the Mato traverse box does not mean it will work like the Mato/ HL's it will act like a Tamiya Left stick up = gun up left stick down = gun down or the right stick depending on how you like to set it up. But what is cool is it will also work like the HL, so if thats what your used too your good to go.

Greg, I am trying to figure out how to wire the new Elmod to work with Tamiya elevation and recoil units. The turret rotation motor is still Mato. My issue is with elevation compatibility using elmod. Seems the new elmod has a place to hook up the Recoil unit, but not elevation....

slightly off topic...
anybody know of a way to still use an el mod system and a servo for barrel elevation instead of a tamiya or hen long style motor and gear box?
i was thinking i would have to get a seven or eight channel controller then plug the el mod wire into a 3 position switch channel and put the servo into the stick channel in my case left stick or throttle up and down...

If you ise elmod you can use a tamiya elevation unit and it will work normally. From what I see, you can use a servo, but will have to wire the motor from the servo directly to the plug for the connector to elmod. I used elmod in my tauchpanzer and have the asiatam 3 in 1 recoil unit. It does control elevation the same as a Tamiya would.

If you want servo elevation I think you need the 'PRO' version.
The 'ECO' version I have assumes that the traverse and elevation is done by esc driven motor devices from the El-Mod board and not the pwm signals required to drive servo's.
You could connect the servo direct to the receiver, but in that case the El-Mod ECO controller would not then see the elevation channel signal - which is needed to start the tank and fire the main gun.
Best bet is to either contact The Blitz on this forum, or email El-Mod directly.
(now if only they would add functionality to allow the tank to race around like a drug crazed weasel, so that I can keep up with the Tamiya tanks ...)
