Here are some pics of my first Tamiya build. It was awesome. I highly recommend anyone into RC Tanks to build atleast one Tamiya. It is totally worth the cost. I am hooked on Tamiya now!
I am waiting for the spare track links from Whitewolf in Ottawa (thanks again dude!)
Radio: Spektrum DX5e
Turret: Mato Sherman
Barrel: Nick Aguilar
Tank Commander: Modified HL German tank crewman

Some more pics from the build:

Restored Canadian M4A2E8 in Alberta.

Custom engine grill: (Thanks to the boys at DAK)

Modified Loaders Hatch:

Mated the Mato Turret to the Tamiya turret ring:

thanks for the nice photos and history as well. All I ever saw of GB and Canada in korea were Centurians and a couple Cromwells and Brens. Didn't have any contact as we were in different sectors. Now I know that Canada had Easy 8s there also. Nice job. Did you make the decals etc?

do you go to weather him to ? Do you have more pics of Catherine

Here is another pic of Catherine in Korea. The Canucks arrived with M10s and traded them in for M4A3E8s from US stock. In Canada, we used M4A2E8s until they were replaced with centurions.

Did you make the decals etc?

Fantastic job Tim!
You forgot to add pictures of how you customized/modified your commander!
I know what you mean by hooked on Tamiya, up to three now and still working on the first! lol

That's a very fine tank, Tim!!
I'm glad you pointed out that the "Catherine" maintained and operated by the Lord Strathcona's Historical Troop is actually an M4A2E8 .... one of 300 bound for the Red Army in Manchuria and Operation August Storm but "left on the docks" when the Japanese Surrendered. Purchased as "training tanks" by Canada for the low low price of $15,000 each (70 percent off "manufacturer's cost" I believe). We had to give all our Korean M4A3E8's back to Uncle Sam when hostilities ended, and couldn't even smuggle one home with us...... [

Good-looking Canadian T/C, too !!
What more can I say, except "Well Done"!

Very nice work on that tank brother. I am thinking of doing a Fitrfly conversion sometiem soon and was wondering if the Mato turret could be modified use the Tamiya turret ring. Do you have any further details about that conversion? I just finished an Israeli M1 with tamiya electronics and I could not be happier with it. Did you install recoil??

WOW, man that one pic is almost impossible too tell it's a scale tank. the thing looks totally real. Thats the one I want. I like the Jumbo too but you just built the ultimate Sherman. IMO.

Before:

Bottom lip of MATO turret cut off, ring dremmeled out and glued back on. Then I glued and screwed the Tam ring to it. Picture is worth a 1000 words.

Stock Tam elevation motor modified to mate with the MATO mantlet. I wish I had a recoil for it. Oh well, one day.

Glad DAK could inspire the engine deck. I am working on a traverse adapter for Mato/HL rings as I like the positive grip of those rings better than the Tamiya.
For those of you who want Fireflies, I am working on the Mantlet and Rotor shield specifically for them.
Anyone need a 75mm barrel? Let me know!

Hello there!
I was just wondering if any of you knew anything about HE rounds that would have been used with the American M4A3E8's 76mm M1 main gun?
Really I am looking for information on the type of HE rounds that would ave been used with a delay fuze option. I have found a little information about the M352 HE, M353 HE, and M496 HEAT-T, but I would really like to find some pictures or diagrams and additional information about their weight, muzzle velocity, range etc.
Thanks in advance for your help!
