Yes the Panther is a good tank. There have been a few problems reported, but generally speaking a very good offering with little to complain about.

However how can you not want a Canadian Firefly!!! I have been working on making the suspension fully functional, and just got it finished this week. This completes my third Firefly This is an IR battle tank with Darkiths DBC in it.

Key features

Grafted Mato front to a Tamiya to give me a 1C hull varient

Tamiya turret modifed into a Firefly configuration. Used the split hatch form the Mato Sherman

All wheels were recast to scale and open spoke wheel

Suspension fully functional

Transmission cover modifed for a more scale like appearance.

3:1 Heng Long Modifed Gears.

Heng long electronics

Recoiling bbl

DBC teamed up to a digital sound card for battle sounds.

A whole bunch of resin cast stowage items.

A pile of fun, and a very good running tank.
I want a Canadian Firefly!! Can you post some of your source links? I have a Mato Sherman with a pooched airsoft and an HL IR system that I'd love to turn into a Firefly with DBU/DBC eventually.

The Sherman is a good runner but those skinny tracks and high center of gravity are just as disadvantageous on the real thing. However, those rubber chevrons do bite into the sand for some great traction.

The gearboxes are sealed with nylon/plastic gears. Better at keeping debris out for longer life. Short and intermitant range issues have to do with the antenna wire getting squeezed against electronics and wiring. Easy fix.

HL gearboxes and electronics can be fairly easily retrofitted for parts commonality and spares.

The BullDog is arguably the best tank for devouring all types of terrain. We've even had ours running through the surf at the beach!

I can't believe how inexpensive the Tamiya plastic parts are!

Oh, and by the way, thanks for being patient with me YHR. You must feel like Tigers Woods playing a round of golf with a 20 handicapper! (Or Eric Clapton jamming with a garage band)

Not this one. There are videos of it pushing the kids around on their trikes and big wheels on youtube though.

So Swathy, any news on those "other versions" of Shermans? Since I am scratching the M10 should I wait?

Nothing Sherman related to my knowledge. Keep going with your M10. I don't forsee anything new until "Hope and Change" leaves town and prosperity returns.

Yeah, the Hope and change business is like the Phrase S^*$ in one hand and wish in the other and see which gets filled first. what a sham that whole nonsense was/is.
