Introducing myself
Hi all,
A quick note to say hello and introduce myself to the forum. 38 yrs old, married, father of one, M.A. in history, I'm a long time history & WWIIbuff (a war film officionado I like to think)and have always been fascinated by armor in particular. My son is now at an age where he is becoming very interested in these things too, so that gave me the excuse I needed to jump into this hobby. I just placed and order for the upgraded & IR versions of the Heng Long Panther and KV-1 tanks, and purchased from MatoMart.com Any other enthusiasts in my area? Cheers, Stephen Ottawa, Canada |

Hi Stephen,
Nice that you can drop into the Canadian War Museum to check out measurements on their real Panther, and see how much zimmerit has fallen off the fenders in the past few months! Mike Down the road in Perth, Ontario |

ORIGINAL: Spitvalve Hi Stephen, Nice that you can drop into the Canadian War Museum to check out measurements on their real Panther, and see how much zimmerit has fallen off the fenders in the past few months! Mike Down the road in Perth, Ontario Funny you should say that about the Panther at the Cdn War Museum. I was thinking of painting my HL Tiger just like it. :) Woohoo! My tanks just arrived via UPS less than 24 hrs after I placed the order. That's service! Thanks Mato Mart! <br type="_moz" /> |
RE: Introducing myself
Well...my enthusiam is now a little dampened by the fact that the HLKV-1 arrived in damaged condition, with the exhaust piece broken, the body not fitting together properly and a screw (where it belongs, I have no idea) rattling around inside the tank.
Sigh. |

ORIGINAL: karel47 it was delivered right away from Koersk damaged by the german i think http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../red_smile.gif It figured out the screw was from the motor mount. I replaced it but it's not tight and won't tighten, and I'm concerned it will work itself out again and end up in the gears. <br type="_moz" /> |
RE: Introducing myself
that's the isseu with the cheapest tanks like Heng Long, Matorro and WSN you get what you pay for, although the latest HL are pretty good but still miles away from the quality of the tamiya stuff, that's a proven fact, no doubt about that.
Everything is repareble, the one links the other, cheap means: little of no quality controls, cheap commodities not very well thought on planning etc ment more like a toy tank Its just like with beautiful women , some have no haert ... others are angels ... these tanks are the same some are running, others have little isseu's ... yeah you can repair them ... but upgrading is expensive you will end up at the hights of the tamiya prices ... better electronics Elmod? Yes but better priced then tamiya the elmod will cost easy 400 to 500€ the tamiya MFmodules around 160€ The heng longs have the cheapest mf RX18 with sherman like motorsound ... compare but choose quality you never regret that descision ... no spare tanks for parts with the tamiya stuff at a very concurrental price : the KT, Tiger I, Sherman 400€ Full Function Compare HL and Matorro with crapsounds 100 to 200€ much cheaper but that's all said |
RE: Introducing myself
Well, that's an interesting post! On several levels...
