yes am agree with you commander, there are so much different ways for building, weathering or battledamage an RCtank, i have unusual methods too, but respect other guy's which do it on other ways ... our hobby is making fun ... not make war ... so enjoy your builds en share it with us ... that's what this site is all about !

Learn and try no matter what the endresult counts the most

Happy New Year to anyone and a well tanked 2011 guy's

Hey guys I have a question that I sure has been beat to death but I am search challenged so here goes nothing. I am in the market for a Christmas present to myself and since I always wanted a Tamiya tank since way back I decided now might be a good time to get one. I am looking at either a Jagdpanther, a Panther or a Sherman for my first and only tank for a while. I know the Sherman is a good and reliable tank but how does the Jagdpanther and the Panther fare? Would those be a decent first tank as far as running reliability? I am not looking to do any IR battles but I would like th run the thing without having to worry about throwing tracks all the time or something breaking. Thanks!

Let's get back to the question in the OP. I'm far less experienced in RC tanks then some of the guys here, and I have yet to build a Tamiya kit (so far I'm sticking with much cheaper Heng Long tanks)

BUT some things seem quite obvious:

1. If you are to buy a single tank to drive around, it simply MUST be a turett tank. For show off, for the kids, you name it.

2. If you want something reliable, go for an older kit, on which all major issues werealready corrected either by the manufacturer or by 3rd party smaller companies. I know it's tempting to shoot for the latest model, but that's for experienced builders whoalready have 1001 tanks to drive around.

3. For pretty much the same reasons as those listed in 1. , go for the most visually striking/badass lookingtank. IMO that's byfar the Tiger I, others mighthave other favorites. Just take a look at the pictures of the MODELS, not of the real tanks, andpick YOUR favourite.

I'm having a blast with my tanks. Are you?

Have a Happy New Year to everyone!

Yes great fun, thank you for asking! To start I sold off the Panther G, KV-1, Tiger IE and Pershing for about 4800 bucks total in 2010, all to Danville participants. So pretty pretty good rc tank year and thank Tamiya for the kit FUNtoo.

And again thank you very much, I would enjoy fighting your tanks. LOL. As in driving them off a cliff and I am installing the flash again per Danville play rules so the need to borrow your tank is moot! So, they are safe from my transmitter follies.

And so your a Tamiya reprepresentative name dropper, hugh? So am I. Well, I do recall on more than one occassion Mr Tamiya signing my friends and one of my models at TamiyaCom(s) and being in ear shot of his son announcing that the next new RC tank would be the Panther G back in 2006.

So perhaps that is a tie, but wait, I listened to a key Tamiya Panther G kit consultant in his home garage talk about the crappy tracks and drive sprockets delivered in my Panther G kit and I gave him those tracks to send back to Japan! LOL. Those sneaky Tamiya Pearl Harbor attacking decendents and over all rascals just denied the kit track/sprocket issues as did the USA Tamiya robots.

Here is the photos of my much improved climbing Sherman using Phils motors and 8 tooth pinions and now capable of irritating both the wife and the gardner at the same time by running in the planters.

And remember Bob, it ain't a TBUworthy tank if it doesn't use Daryl Turner parts, just ask your friend Darryl!!!! http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../thumbs_up.gif And I like your tanks too.

Happy New Year. John
