Fried flash unit
Wondered why my flash unit had suddenly stopped working...It got fried. Do I care? Not really,
I was never that impressed with it anyway, and I can’t be bothered to find the cause. I think it might have shorted via the strobe, but who knows.
The rest of the MF-01 unit is working ok so I’m happy. It now gives me a chance to work on a new project...The Smoking Gun. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...666/fried2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e666/fried.jpg
|
RE: Fried flash unit
If you purchased from Tamiya or its representative, try returning it for a replacement. There are several accounts of Tamiya replacing electronics parts for free if the original is returned.

RE: Fried flash unit
Not usually so with the flash units. The DMD's and MF units yes Flash, no. Had one go after about 2 hours of use when I first got my Panther G. Had to buy a new one.

RE: Fried flash unit
It might be worth a try, as the fried parts are inside the MF...I'll give the guys I bought it from a call and see what they say...Anyway, thanks for the heads up guys.

RE: Fried flash unit
If the problem was in the MF unit for the flash, which you really didn't say, then yes you very well could get it replaced.

RE: Fried flash unit
Sorry, I thought the photo's of the board would have shown the problem

RE: Fried flash unit
I usually avoid opening up the cases for the MF and DMD units. This can in some cases void what ever warranty they may or may not offer.
