OK so someone is testing the suspension on a Tiger hull, I see no evidence of a Leopard, you do realise that within a very short time there will be numerous boring posts titled “Where can I purchase a Heng Long Leopard II” and “Why can’t they release it today” all from grown men with no sense.

Where can I get this Heng Long Leopard II. I am so bumed out by how long it is taking them to release this. I am getting sick of HL toying with their consumers. I should have been able to buy this by now:D

so I don't have any idea when will the L2 be released either despriteHL has put the L2 on their product list..

no I am not testing the Tiger suspension, Iam really testing out the new power plant making it ready for the forthcoming L2...do you feel it has enough power on this particular plant? any comment?

I don't see the Leo 2 on their site. I see the 1/24 scale ones that have been out for years. But not 1/16.

Sorry if I have confused anyone here... the L2 is not available now... not even have any idea when it will (or even will it?) be released. Just some words from my Chinese distributor that it will be the one after KT...and I have seen it listed on their web some time ago but found that they have taken it out now..

Being so keen on the modern tanks.. I have gone a step forward to test out a suitable power plant awaiting for the anticipated L2...and is the subject of this thread..

OK I see. So the video is just of a Tiger 1 with upgraded motors. Title of this thread is sure to incite a lot of responses when it is not really accurate.

ha ha... right or wrong... is there any 1/16 tank available now that worth this sort of power? It must be a modern tank...ora T34..

Forget about the Tamiya, it just cannottake it..

you see.. if the HL Tiger1 cantake the power.. so will its later brothers...so it is natural for me to choose a HL hull as a test bed..

in fact... I really mean to make me ready for the HL L2...

Reminds me a few years back when there was rumour of pending Heng Long tanks, Elefant, M1A1, Cromwell, Challenger 2 and Sherman these turned out to be false and have never seen the light of day, I will only believe rumours if they are supported with pictures until then they are pure fantasies of board modellers

The shame is HL knows exactlly what we are looking for. Most companies need to do exstensize testing and research to find out what the market is and wants. We repeatedly tell them what we want. It does not get any easier than that.. Make it so Challenger 2 Abrams M1A2 Leopard 2A6/7 Russian T-72/ 80/90 ,Cromwell, Churchill.,Sherman M4A3E2, thats one I want, Something Canadian maybe, or Japanese or Italian. It's easy JUST DO IT.

sadly, the plain fact is that we are not HL's target group of customers.. HL is aiming at the toy market... in the 3rd world countries...sales there being counted by the number of containers every month or even every week...?

it just so happened that these toy tanks are so full of potential that we nuts turn them into a model....a good and reliable model.. to put the model manufacturers into shame...

ok... so much so for the HL things...

My initial intention of this thread is to see how you buddies think about the jumping performance test when compared with the real L2?

comments anyone?

Looks like your suspension held up pretty well in the jump. Question though, is how much does it weigh?

Oh.. it overscaledmy largest 3Kg max scale on hand even after Ihave taken out the 450g battery...socannot tell...

for information, it is a HL Tiger 1 with metal tracks and steel gearbox..

Where did you get the steel gear boxes?  And are they the standard HL gearing ratios?

Seems like for brushless motors you'd want to gear them down some...

it is a HL upgrade gear box..should be the same size and ratio of their standard ones. After comparing to the Tamiya,Despit its mere cost of US$20 a pair, I considered it to be the best 1/16 gear box available in market today.Itis so smooth that you can easilyturn the output shaftwiithout due effort. Upon going down slope, thetracks simple free run when the power off...( my friend's new Tamiya KT, both gear boxes broke after two 3.5 hrs rocky road runs.. he got a pair of spare gb from Tamiya for the same price of a fully upgraded HL and again broken in 2 runs...the HLsteel gear box is simply superb in terms of workmanship and material)

The brushless motor is a new setupmeant for the new modern tanks. Forother tanks,I use the steel gear box with a 480 motor which is not only faster but moretorque.. so gear ratio is no issue to me. I see others fitting a 3:1 but I doubt thetank speed would be severelyslowed down. I never think the real tanks should becrawling around, during fight, they should move at whatever maximum speed they can... to avoid being aimed by their enermy..

HL does not have Steel gear boxes. they where made for Bill at RCCommand and they are out of business. Unless they released them with out any of us hearing about it. Bill's boxes are awesome. I have them in my tigerHL/Tamiya conversion. AWESOME power and torque.

stell gear box with gears in anodeized black.. absolutely smooth, no need to run in... can turn easily in the output shaft end...as you can see in my previous video how smooth it goes..

all of our buddies use this gearbox,, 1000 times better than their so called "metal" gear box and about 10 times better than the Tamiya.

less than US$20 a pair... for some models (Tiger 1, M41 etc), they can be get in a stock package comes pre-installed in the factory, for other tanks youu have to be buy a as an upgrade partsinstalled by yourselves...
