Elec problems

All,
Just put in the new gear boxes and motors into my Matorro KT. Runs like a charm. Nice and quite and even can turn on my Persian carpets. Problem is, when I give right stick, the right track turns causing the tank to turn left. Forward and reverse work properly. Now I didn't change any of the electronics except to put in an internal antenna. Any Ideas whats causing this? As always your help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Jim

Try swapping the plugs around on the rx 18.

YHR,
I tried reversing the plugs on the master board, but it made forward reverse and vis versa( however, my turn orientation worked. IE: right stick left track turns, tank turns right). I'm a bit puzzled as I didn't change any electronics, just the internal antenna. Hummmph?

This is actually how mine is now. I feel Ihave better throttle control this way. Mine's reversed because I swapped the controls on my transmitter so that one stick does throttle/turret horizontalcontrol(not really as I have a Jagdpanther) and the other one does steering/firing/vertical turret control.

Changing the antena wire would not cause that type of problem. But if the wires on one motor is reversed it could be causing your problem.I went through a situation like that way back when i first started working on the internals of tanks.Would have pulled my hair out if i had any before i finaly figured out what the problem was.I swaped wires around i don't know how many times before i got it right.Just a guess here.............;)

If that is the case and one of the motor wires is reversed and you find and correct that then you will still need to get them pluged into the right socket.Good luck and i hope it is something simple like that to cure your problem.

P.S. With the newer version motors coming out now with plugs installed one must hope they get them right in the factory. But they do screw-up now and then.

Now you have swap the leads on the motors Depending on the gear box, an added gear may make the outputshafts spin opposite of the the stock ones.

YHR,
I think your right. In order for the tank to go forward, I had to reverse the plugs on the master board ( creating my problem I now believe ) I have some extra plugs and will do a test to see if reversing the motor leads will correct my problem. Will keep all informed, and thanks for the input.

Well, no use. I reversed the motor leads and my forward/ reverse stick became left and right turn. and my turn sticks became forward and reverse?? go figure. I guess for the time being, I'll just have to get used to driving this tank in reverse fashion?

Hey Jim there has to be an answer for this. I have changed gears and motors at least 50 times, and have experienced what you have relayed. It was always corrected by rewiring the motors or moving th eplugs around. Through trial and error you will get it. There is only so many combinations!!! When you move the right stick, upper left, the right hand motor should turn in a forward direction. So if this upper left action causes the left motor to turn, you need to switch the plug in on the RX 18. If the motor is running in reverse then you have to swap the leads on the motor.
