Heres a werd problem for you
Today after work I was running my Tamiya KT and after about a half hour all of a sudden it went in to reverse and would not stop had to chase it down .
Changed battery out fired it back up and the sticks are reversed now I had it setup for elevation and turret movement on left stick and driving all done on right stick now that's changed to what was on the right stick is now the left stick and what was the left stick is now the right stick . I tried resetting the DMD unit and running the sticks like the Tamiya manual shows still no change looked at the settings on my DX6i for the KT there still the same this is werd. Jimmy |
RE: Heres a werd problem for you
I'm thinking that's not a Tamiya issue, but a Spektrum one. I run all my Tamiya full option tanks on Spektrums, and have a few Dx6is. You might verify your DX6i is'nt on the recall list. DX6i's have had a couple recalls. Check Horizon's website for details.
If yours s a non recall unit, then you might try changing out the rx to eliminate the rx as a culprit. I've started using some of the new cheapo Hobbyking orange rxs and they work fine Hope this helps. |
RE: Heres a werd problem for you
Just curious; have you tried changing the batteries in your Tx?

RE: Heres a werd problem for you
My DX6i was not on the recall list .
Recharging battery's for TX now just in case they did show 5.3 volts . Jimmy |
RE: Heres a werd problem for you
Come to think of it before this started I started to get random shut downs even with a fully charged battery in the tank
Just fired up my Tamiya Panther witch uses the same DX6i TX and it drives the same as the KT is doing now so its got to be the TX . Jimmy |
RE: Heres a werd problem for you
the spektrum recievers have a prodlem with current draw on the recievers when they overload the reverse the channels you have to power down the tank then unplug the battery so the reciever resets and it will work normal again have had a few ar6100 and ar 5000 units do this

RE: Heres a werd problem for you
Jimmy,
I'd send it in to Spektrum for a repair. Sounds like you've got a good grasp on the symptoms. They'll probably change your boards out for new ones. <br type="_moz"/> |
RE: Heres a werd problem for you
I just reversed the plugs on the Rx and that put the drive back on the right stick and the turret on the left stick ill see if this changes again if so ill send it in for repair then .

Bowlman:
Before they mentioned that its a common Spektrum problem, it sounded ~so~ much like a Tamiya Mode 1/Mode 2 issue. Most of the new models that can be used for aircraft use have this switch, as some prefer throttle on one side, some on the other. This allows the channels to be swapped at the flick of a switch. And YES, this is why the Tamiya DMD Manual plug-in instrictions are off... they wrote the manual to set up in Euro Mode, and we're more used to the other mode... (canna remember which is which, and too lazy to look it up) I pointed this out AGES ago over in the Armor Hut, but its WAY back... Wonder if this is part of the reason for the Spektrum glitch, summat to do with when it overdraws, it tosses the programming and it swaps modes... anyone dare to ask? |
RE: Heres a werd problem for you
Its a DSM2 witch runs like this .
This is the Mode-2 Right Hand Elevator and Left Hand Throttle version. If you are not sure which model to get, most U.S. customers choose Mode 2, while in some foreign countries, Mode 1 is more standard. Left-handed drivers may also prefer a Mode 1 radio. When I got it it worked like a Mode-1 . This is the Mode-1 Right Hand Throttle and Left Hand Elevator version. If you are not sure which model to get, most U.S. customers choose Mode 2, while in some foreign countries, Mode 1 is more standard. Left-handed drivers may also prefer a Mode 1 radio. I got use to running it with Throttle on the right I'm right handed it just felt better . Jimmy |
