How would I get my tank to remote start and shutoff during battles?

You dont' no way to prevent run aways, which are not allowed in competition. Just not a good idea if it was setting on the kitchen table and you accidentally started it.<div>This also sounds like another post with less than  credible intentions.</div><div>If you guys think homeland security is not watching these types of forums your kidding your self.</div>

I suppose remote/start stop would be useful to "safe" your tank after its been "killed" but you aren't allowed to step onto the battlefield yet.

But remote start/stop will also allow the user to surreptitiously reset his tank to zero hits.

How I can see it can be done is for the radio to have more than 4 channels where the 5th channel is used to operate the "on-off" switch of the MFU. In such a setup you will need a battery power supply for your receiver.

You can do it easily with Tamiya Electronics

It's called a sleep switch, and the instructions were first presented by SCAT member Steve K. in about 2005  and are here

Thanks Jeff. Thats exactly what I was looking for. What channel would I map to If I am using the gear button for the main gun? I have a dx6i DSMX.

If you are using the sticks to operate the tank(4 ch), and the Gear Switch for the Main Gun (1 ch), it would seam you only open channel would be your Flaps.

As to the question "why" would you do this - In our battles you get one life, but the Tamiya electronics want to reset themselves. You can stay in one place, but you tank will still visible take hits. This tends to confuse the other drives as to wether you are alive of dead.

With the older Analog radios you could just kill the Tx and the Tamiya electronics would sense the loss of signal and shut down. The Spektrums don't work that way - they maintain constant power to RC gear even when the Tx is off. SD Steve figured out that what the Tamiya system was really looking for was a rudder channel signal. By adding the Pico switch to that servo lead you can use Ch 5 or Ch 6 to turn the servo power on or off, fooling the system into powering the tank on or off

With DX-5e radios I can turn off the transmitter and the tank goes to sleep. I have a mix of AR500 and 6110(e) receivers. Works in my Shermans with Pershing and KVelectronics.

Ethan, I have the DX-5e also. I run my Pershing with it and a BR6000 reciever. Mine will not shut off when I tyurn off the TX. Is this with all of the spectrums?

I've observed how some Spektrum tx and rx combinations will put the tank to sleep when you turn off the radio, while others do not.  Here's my theory. 

Spektrum has used DSM and DSM2 tech (I purposely omit DSMX, their newest).  DSM was the Spektrum DX6 radio and receivers AR6000 and BR6000.  Spektrum's first generation.  Then came the DSM2 equipment,(second generation) which are backwards compatible with DSM equipment (but not vice-versa)  DSM2 txs included the DX6i, and  DX5E. DSM2 rxs were the AR500 and the AR61xx series. 

After doing some tests, my theory is that tanks running both a DSM2 rx and DSM2 tx will work as a sleep switch by turning off the tx.  However, DSM2 tx and DSM rx mixed systems do not put the tank to sleep.  

Anyways..., it is just a theory.   <br type="_moz"/>

I agree with Jeff, Iretired my AR/BR6000 receivers and all my tanks go sleepy-time now.
