ok i'm no engineer so any tips will be helpful
took the T-34 apart getting it ready for new electronics and gearbox
maybe i should have used a thicker piece of aluminum i'm not sure but this is all i had
gutted the insides and made a hopfully stonger hull this is what i have so far

can anyone tell me how to get the drive sprocket off of the drive shaft if i'm going to put a new gear box i will need to reuse the drive sprocket

looks like a gear puller is needed or something like it...

Trumpeter is clever. Take the sprocket apart; remove three small screws on the rear side. Once you have done that knock out the small
cross pin that engages the rear half and the rear half of the sprocket will then slide off.

i think they did something else to it Jerry i got that far but the back part of the sprocket wont come off unless i'm not pulling it hard enough i don't want to break it

Hey airbrushler excellent start with the T34http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif

the plate looks strong enough are you getting any flex in the chassis?? you may get some but a lot is bad news?

the sprockets are quite a tight fit but should come off eventually give them a bit off a wiggle and they should free off pretty good

i finally got one, there is a bit of a rim on the back part of the sprocket so it wont come off that way ,so i had to take the brass fitting on the gear end to remove the whole assembly ,l i hope this helps someone else who does this i guess Trumpeter had something else, you can see the rim just inside the sprocket
thanks for your help everyone i hope to save for some new gearboxes and electronics to get it going again, i'm sure i will be bugging all of you again for help...lol

yes there still is some flex in the chassis but thats why when i made this insert i made it with side uprights so if i have toi willfind some small screws to mount those upright pieces after that i'm sure it wont move much or if i apoxy it but i made it so it's removeable i may make a few out of thicker aluminum at work if the boss lets me he can do them on the CNC router...hmmmm

Cool it is a cracking job you've done therei'm quite jealous really as mine was only a straight plate nowhere near as fancy as your's Have you considered Ally "L" angle to aid rigidity?

Nice work so far, brother. Question. Is that gearbox mounted in place or just laying there in the last pic?

Airbrushler 09-25-2011 03:46 PM

RE: T-34 Mod Started

Thanks Yellowshaker glad to see you back buddy, hope everything good your way
just sitting in there not mounted i have to wait to buy some gearboxes so to line things up i'm just using my panther ones until i can afford to buy some gear boxes for it

What gearboxes are you going to buy for it?

RE: T-34 Mod Started

Doing much better brother. Thanks alot.
The gearboxes are going to add a lot to that tank. I know it is work, but it will be worth the effort once it is complete.
I can't wait to get mine back from Daryl. Then I can order some KV electronics for it and have a really strong runner.

Great thread, been thinking about a t34 biuld. I was looking at picking up one of those used but I could not figure out a non wallet killing way to "fix" the drivetrain. My guess was to mod a "snow lepard" metal gear box,

well i stripped the gears in my panther gearbox on one side i got new ones from one of the great guys at Can-Am Glen B
so the panther was up and running but i still don't do so good as the DBC gets hit one time and don't go anywhere but anyways i was able to order just the gears to replace the stripped ones they give you both sides and the hardware for $12 plus shipping and taxes it was $22.60 from Matomartso now i'm going to put these to good use in the
T-34

hi airbrushler
in my T34 i angled the gearboxes so they rode above the shock mounts (asiatam gearboxes) not sure if youll have enough room in there to angle the h/longs but you might?

That was the hardest part. I just used a Tamiya DMD and MFU instead. Much easier to hook up. LOL. Not as price freindly but much more brain pain friendly.

There were some posts awhile back on wiring up a RX-18 to the T34. Panther G is right, its is a pain on the brain.

Do a search on the RX-18 and there should be a wire diagram.
