Looks nice as I've always wanted to build one of these.

But I have too many Sherman projects in line ahead of it and doubt it'll ever happen!

So what electronics/sound did you go with?

Nice, clean work. looks like you are going for the late 1975 version with top mounted exhaust. What are you using for the rear overhang? Stowage boxes used a hasp and wire latch, not the US twist handle.

RE: M-51 Progress

Well the stowage bin handle situation was apparently a grevious shortcut by yours truly so I will now fix the situation bu constructing the correct hasps and padlock latch.

I used steel wire and some channel stock to make the hasps, I used the old pershing handles for the lock and the hook on top.

Happy now? Each box took 25 mins to do......

I detailed the stowage boxes a bit more and added chain to the caps on the smoke grenade launchers.

Well, I don't like it. Don't like it at all.

But I do LUV it! :D

I won't have as many Shermans as you but you have inspired me to have more than just one.

Or two or three. :) Keep up the great work!

Late M51s had a stowage box on the commanders side of the turret...... Mine now has one too...

Luv yer detail work............especially the stowage boxes and hasps. [X(]

Are ya gonna make master locks for 'em?

Rex

RE: M-51 Progress

I might make a lock or two. I hope you like the stowage boxes now Pat Com.

For our battle day I put a temporary paint job in place. I used a rattle can of Testor's SAC Bomber Tan, an old fav of mine for israeli. (my airbrush is on the blink)
I apologize for skipping a step or two on the build but I was pressing to have it run for the local event. I now have until Nov 5th for the Contest table!

I managed to acquire some of Tamiya's new final drive covers with bearings and decided to put them on the M51.

Now that's cool... off hand does anyone know of a similar plate that would work with HL tanks?

So Ethan, what do you think about the drive covers?

Aren't you going to need about a dozen set for all your Shermans? :)

RE: M-51 Progress

I will need a few more covers, more like 3 sets but thanks for askin!

The tank museum store has them and the metal idlers with bearings also.
