LED FLASH??
Has anyone used an LED for the main gun flash on a Tamiya? If so, you have a link to how to wire this up?

RE: LED FLASH??
Just make sure you dont try too use the MFU flash curcuit. It is a very high voltage . I know guys do it but I dont know what they are using for power. The stock micro switch can still be used to trigger it.

RE: LED FLASH??
I assume you mean the micro switch on the recoil unit. That would make sense. I suppose you would need a higher voltage LED as well? Most of the ones I have run off of very low voltage. Maybe 1.5-2v.

RE: LED FLASH??
Hi Joe the tamiya unit will fry a led ...maybe do it like panther said with the recoil unit make a jumper and power a led off it see what voltage it is ... you can get higher voltage leds or you can use a diod in reverse to lower the voltage or a resistor.

RE: LED FLASH??
You can directly wire a 5mm LED in parallel with the gun recoil . There's no need to add a series resistor as the voltage is just right. The only drawback is the flash is longer than usual.

RE: LED FLASH??
Thanks Gerry. Ah, so it would not be that same split second as the high intensity unit does?

RE: LED FLASH??
Yes.

RE: LED FLASH??
Yup, what they said. i know there is a way to do it but forgot the diode part.
