not threu, it is as thin as you want it no thicker then 0,5mm most of the time thinner just apply a coat and then press the patern into it, if it gets to dry apply some thinner and the time of working expends again

ORIGINAL: 1sgt I think the Zim looks outstanding. If you applied it like Karel does, it would scale out to about 6 inches thick. Some Zim was applied rather thick, but not like I have seen on some tanks. There are also plenty of pics of real tanks that the Zim is not applied that heavely. I think this Zim kit ( as well as your PZ IV ) looks great and will use it on my next HL PZ IV. Jim |
RE: panzer iv build
Tony, did you use an 8 tooth pinion?
|
RE: panzer iv build
i use a little schrewdriver of the back of my modelknife blade it is just 5,5mm that's ok to do the KT zimmerit , you just pull the back of the knifeblade slightly in an push a little to above just in one move it is easy and fun and gives the natural look of zimmerit

ORIGINAL: Buckeye36 Tony, did you use an 8 tooth pinion? but i might be thinking it wrong, if all the crazy battling stops. i just learned the sweep shot, turrent defence, slop defence, lag shot, ect... lol |
RE: panzer iv build
On the Mitosal website it says you will have to modify the wheels for the bearings to fit.
Is that true? |
RE: panzer iv build
You don't have to modify the wheels for the bearings. If you read further it says essentially that you need to put the bearings in before
you glue the wheels together or else you have to crack open the wheels for the bearings to go into the wheel. |
RE: panzer iv build
so far it looks like no mods. after you glue the road wheel halfs together, they have a space for the bearings on the outside
will find out more as i get to it |
RE: panzer iv build
Another silly question here...
Does the Tamiya PIV kit come with the brackets for the side schurzen? I know it has everything for the turret. The 1/35 kit comes with the brackets but not the panels. |
RE: panzer iv build
No side schurzen on the 1/16 tammy kit.
|
RE: panzer iv build
i just remembered, do not forget to get the Schumo extended leaf springs for your P4, those are a must to have for this kit. The stock ones are too short and going over rough terrain you will bend them out from the suspension.

Just a small update. Tony's internet took a crap so I told him I'dpost for him. Lower hull extension's for tow shackles, pinned using 1/36 rod.
|
RE: panzer iv build
With all this attention to detail, this is going to be an awsome P IV.</p> |
RE: panzer iv build
wow, nice detail, i hope they stay on while battling! keep the pics coming!

RE: panzer iv build
Very nice and realistic!!

got the on/off switch in. i soldered in a jst connector so i can disconnect the switch for ease of removing the upper hull
i'm really liking the way the on/off switch is set up on this tank. hidden behind some flip up tracks ;) |

I love it! |
RE: panzer iv build
This is going to be a sweet P4! I am liking the late version! I hope we can get a P4 platoon together at Danville when I get back there!
By the way, when is Bret going to build his P4? |
