Taigen?
 

Ok gents going to pick your brains, I read on another post about, the Taigen brand. And did a little research and found some sites where these are sold, but I can't seem to find THEIR website. Now I have read that they basically are an upgraded HL with asiatam parts but sold together 3:1 gears,metal tracks, painted (no big deal) there. and various other upgraded parts, with a lower price tag then accumulating these parts yourself. So my question is have any of you bought these, and if so, where? And also is there a site to buysay just the lower upgraded hull like you can with asiatam? I have planned on getting a Pershing and upgrading with an SLU, and ordering it with the metal tracks, but if I can find one that comes with the metal tracks AND 3:1 gears with various metal parts cheaper then buying these separately well then slap me silly :D

I have a tiger by them...the gear box was junk, It lasted a week. I put in a mato 3:1 and it works great.

Really? The gears in my tank are still running strong and I've not had any customer complaints about them. Their main weak point is still the softer metal used for the majority of the gears but TaiGen also have a steel geared 3:1 version for the Tiger.

Regarding the Pershing at the moment their is only two versions available, the standard painted finish, Heng Long metal gears and one with metal tracks. The drive sprockets in the metal tracked version are plastic which is something I am not overly keen on.

I should have the majority of the parts in soon for the Tiger but they don't do many for the Pershing, postage is a nightmare to the US. You are looking at around £60 ($94 USD) from the UK for the TaiGen Tiger with the metal upgrades. <br type="_moz"/>

Wade, my personal opinion is that the Taigen is not worth the money. If you want a setup like it, I would suggest buying the components seperatley from Phil and building it the way you want it. In the end, it will be a better runner becasue you will do it the right way and not have it assembled in a hurry. Or have Phil custom build one for you to your liking. Either way, you will have a better tank in the end.
As for a Pershing, check with Buckeye. I think he has a few laying around that he may part with.

The gears look like the same metal gears that come in the stock mato tanks......my tigerweighs 18 lbs with all the metal stuff they put on it. I just hitone drive wheel ona simi large rock and drive shaft poped out of the gear box housing....just like real tiger, to heavy for its gear box.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sappointed.gif

I don't beleive anyone makes a hull like this for the Pershing so like yellowshaker has said you may as well get one from Phil the way you want it or buy the parts from him and do it your self. There is very little as far as upgrades for the Pershing, not that they need many. 3:1 gear boxes aren't needed as the Pershing is already reduced at the sprocket. I converted my HL Pershing to all Tamiya electronics and gun assembly and it works just as well as my Tamiya Pershing and have been told by a few Tamiya guys they could not tell the difference and that they thought it was a Tamiya until they saw how far the gun could depress because I used the Tamy recoil and a servo for elevation.

STO: are you a Taigen dealer? I've heard that Taigen has a fairly wide offering of tanks and upgrade configurations, but it's up to the dealer to order them. If so, does Taigen have a mid-production Tiger with metal road wheels? How about the PzIV with metal road wheels and suspension?
