Super Pershing IDF Build
I'm going to be building a version of the Super Pershing IDF build. Any ideas on how to get the front sloping armor on without glue? Magnets?

RE: Super Pershing IDF Build
Maybe you should just call it "Tank Girl's Fantasy Cromwell" and not insult the IDF.

RE: Super Pershing IDF Build
That's rather harsh talk there. He does state that it's a what if build on the page. I'm sure there something about if your not being constructive don't say anything!

Same ole, same ole ... harsh words from the "expurt". :D

[link=http://www.warbird-photos.com/gpxd/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=25306]SUPER PERSHING IDF[/link] The photos of the Super Pershing posted in your link are very interesting! I think it is a really creative "never was/what if " tank build, and I think it is a very believable treatment of what an IDF Pershing would look like..... if it had existed in real life. I'm impressed.........and the photography is excellent.......... Thanks for posting that. Very small screws work instead of magnets sometimes, if they can't be seen. I have used both. A really tiny drop of rubber cement will allow sticking something on for removal later, like for painting, and can be carefully rubbed off if it's not on a painted surface. Rex |

ORIGINAL: pattoncommander Maybe you should just call it ''Tank Girl's Fantasy Cromwell'' and not insult the IDF. Thanks guys for the kind support on this build. I should have prefaced this as a non-historical tank as this was a special request by my little boy. I realize those of you all on here that want to accurately build a tank to the spec even down to the color and scratch on a tank. I applaud you by it. But this one will not be accurate and wanted to get general ideas seen in the link sent above as I have never altered a factory kit. So in other words, I'm "Virgin Modifier" ;) I want to be able to service the tank easily with the mods, which is why I am asking. I also have not seen or had hard time finding a specific 1/16 RC Super Pershing, maybe less than a handful. So all ideas are welcome in my book. Thanks again everyone for your suggestions and taking the time to respond. Will show pictures during my build soon. |
RE: Super Pershing IDF Build
Hi,
I built my "super-p" with the armour attached only to the upper hull. This way I can still open the tank for servicing:D http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...d/DC000465.jpg |
RE: Super Pershing IDF Build
Although didn't exist, it's interesting to see a how it would be, Just a question I wouldn't have placed the headlight together but in a lower position. The shield make me thing you wanted a "like" magach, if so probably more shields would be necessary.
Fine for me, as I also have built a lot of non real cars and tanks during the last 30 years. |
RE: Super Pershing IDF Build
Just don't hang any chains on it or you'll really cause some dramas :D

RE: Super Pershing IDF Build
Chains it is then :D

RE: Super Pershing IDF Build
Its an interesting tank but you really want a king tiger killer.....look at the t32 and t32e1...read through this....
http://www.ww2incolor.com/forum/show...-Pershing-Tank thats the one I want to build...the m26 was designed in responce to the tiger and the panther, the t32 was designed in responce to the king tiger. here is another link for it... http://ww2drawings.jexiste.fr/Files/...yTanks/T32.htm |
RE: Super Pershing IDF Build
Awesome links mustclime. Thank you. I really don't have that much time until the Extravaganza. I wish I could build the T-28.
|
RE: Super Pershing IDF Build
Looks like a pretty eazy project to me, you just need 2 m26's....for a t32,just cut he tank inhalfbehind the turret, add a pair of wheels, a little mod on the rear deck andadd 2 mufflers....add a inch of barrel, maybe plate up the front of the turret and the front ofthe tank and you have a king tiger killing heavy....Fromwhat I have been able togather, the t32 was where a lot of the mods were pulled from to make the m46.....but I will leave that topeople more in the know.
the IDF would have never used the m26, the dam things wereunder powered and had issues with over heating in the first place. Stick themin soft sand and high heat and they would be littlemore than pill boxes.....the pattons were a much better choice for the idf imo. |
RE: Super Pershing IDF Build
Dlobmvm3,
Please be sure to post any updates to your build. I really enjoy you guys build of the out of the ordinary (real, one off, or what if). It's what makes this hobby great. Paul |
RE: Super Pershing IDF Build
Yeah really ... a tank build (no matter if it didn't exist) is great.
At least it's not an aquarium you're building! [X(] ~ Jeff |
RE: Super Pershing IDF Build
The Germans used nothing smaller then a 30 gallon aquarium, and you MUST use incandescent bulbs to be historically accurate, fluorescents were not used on fish tanks until the cold war. And the top housing for the lights must have the chrome piping not the black piping or that would also be in accurate.

RE: Super Pershing IDF Build
I have just one question. Why does everyone seem to assume these are IDF modifications. As far as I knew the IDF nec=ver even had Pershings. they used M60's and British Cheiftons and Sherman. Not Pershings. none that I ever heard of.
|
RE: Super Pershing IDF Build
It's a what if build Greg, no one is saying IDF used Pershings.
|
RE: Super Pershing IDF Build
Danny you build any damn thing you want I do. Who cares what anyone else thinks. you are the only person who has to like it. And beleive me I've built some stuff not even a mother could love. LOL. I just thought everytime something that looked middle east was automatically classified as IDF.

RE: Super Pershing IDF Build
I finally finished my Super Pershing based on my son's imagination. We called her "Margaret". She will make her debut in Danville, VA at the Extravaganza.
