That's awesome :D. Excellent build, over the years I have gotten away from scratch building, and now that I am working on the cargo/troop truck I am definitely getting the itch to scratch build more once this is done. I really like the research and imagination side of it, and then bringing everything together. It is a lot of fun. I want to follow in yours, and Rex's footsteps and come up with some different type of builds, the armored side is great, but recently I am having the need to construct something.

Cheers,
Wade

That looks really good to me.........I'm guessing it's R/C (of course) and you used the Mato Sherman to build that little beauty. I did one years ago but it's static and has Panzer III track......I was never happy about that, but it seemed like the thing to do at the time. If you scratch a Long Tom, check shops that deal with R/C airplanes. They have all sorts of rubber tires that will work for the carriage and limber for that artillery piece. I can't remember who made the ones I got, but I think they are still out there. I'll post a source if I can find a supplier for those tires. Now ya got me thinking about converting mine to R/C!

I was going to give up trying to find a source for the tires I used on my Long Tom...........and by pure dumb luck I found this source. The size is perfect, and the commercial tread pattern is actually seen in some photos of the actual artillery piece in WWII. The rig uses 10 tires.

I like this build.  What scale is it?  It is a kit conversion? Is it the HobbyBoss kit?  What track are you using?  Do the boggies flex?  Looking forward to more.

Hi,
She's a scratchbuild using a 1/16 Mato sherman chassis. Mike (sassgrunt) has sent me some fantastic early style roadwheels, so better bogies are on the cards.
@ Rex, cheers for the pointers on the wheels, I'll look into those. (one of these days I'm going to do something you haven't done:D:D:D)

Nice job.....that trailing idler was not an easy build and it looks good. Waiting to see the 155mm. Are you going to detail the cab....laterals, dash etc.?

Cheers guys,
I'm going to do a basic interior, just so if you look in you can see there's stuff in there, (not sure what laterals are, I'll have to look that up LOL)and I plan to put a couple of crew in there too.
I've ordered the wheels for the 155mm thanks to Rex's link, cheers mate:D

Frank....

Do you have any info on what the engine compartment looks like inside? I didn't have anything, so my interior has bogus "stuff" in it. I didn't find anything until the paint was dry on mine. I can share a site or two if ya want.

If you want to do something I haven't been able to do, win the lottery, get some excercise, loose weight and build all of the British tanks from WWII, including the Centurion.

Especially the Centurion.

Hi Rex,
I came across a few pics showing the general layout of the engine compartment, but in the end I didn't use them. I installed an RX18 and speaker where the engine should be and will be putting a smoker in the ammo bin.

Frank, laterals area the two steering levers that stick up in front of the driver. Same as any Sherman except that the dash board sits in front of the driver in the tractors, instead of off to the left front.

Cheers Bill, yes I'll be putting laterals in;)
