Pershing Rotation

So the Tamiya Pershing has little room inside to add improvements and the wire mess ranks high on the chaos scale.

Well, after thinking for some time about adding a slip ring and how to better arrange the space inside without moding the speaker box, this is what I came up with that works well.

Hope this helps in your builds!

RE: Pershing Rotation

very cool...where did you get the slip ring from and do you have a link for it?

I would also suggest using wire loom's to cover the wires, I have used these on my other rc's and they work great at protecting the wires and keeping them neat.

Wade

Got the slip rings here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/KYC18-Slip-R...item41607ed418

The 18 circuit is suitable for Tamiya tanks. [joykinlee is a great seller, my 10th purchase from him]

Your right Wade, I will add a short piece of flexible helical cable wrap.

Good job ...The inside of the Tamiya pershing sure is more crowdy than the H.L. ...
I was able to mount the slip ring inside the turret ring of my H.L. pershing ....But I had to use the Asiatam recoil unit to be able to do so ...http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ular_smile.gif

RE: Pershing Rotation

Sorry ; I didn't mean to highjack your thread by showing my mod.
I wanted to show that the slip ring could be installed in the chassis ( like you did ); or mounted in the hull ( like I did ) ....

Besides , I am not a 100% happy with the Asiatam recoil and I'm thinking of replacing it by a Tamiya one ...

I need to know if the Tamiya recoil is compact enough to remain inside the turret ; or if it is sticky down into the chassis when the gun is at maximum elevation ????

If the recoil is sticking down through the turret ring ; I won't be able to mount the slip ring inside the ring ....

The Pershing recoil does elevate below the turret opening but not quite past the ring gear.

There is little opportunity to mount the slip ring in the turret or from the upper hull as the profile would not suite proper wire rotation IMO.

The hull seemd the best mounting for the slip ring in the Tamiya Pershing.

Shown in the pic is the maximum elevation of the recoil unit:

why don't use the tamiya recoil, its up for his task, building in another recoil into a tamiya is asking for throuble ... this pershing is one of the best runners of the tamiya pack, don't even need metal tracks , the original ones are very good to run everywere http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif

Nice tip and thanks for sharing!

I went the "other way" and made room underneath by consolidating and eliminating things. :D
