I personally just like the gray that the vk3002 is using

I like the pattern with the hard edge fading out on the 002 tank figure. Only two colors also.

I would keep in mind that if the E100 ever saw combat at the end of the war in Berlin it would probably have been rushed out of the factories piecemeal. Taking that into account the bottom one with the red oxide primer would be the most accurate. Plus red oxide is fun to weather because it is hard to make the weathering look bad. Great Model!

It is a dream tank Scot. Do what they couldn't do...FINISH IT!!! I vote for the 323 camo on the color plate. Looks great pal.

It's going to look awsome anyhow. But I'm a sucker for some paint in faded ore a sorry state, parts in primer red,and in general in a' rushed out status'.

I like the first one of those I posted here.

I'd go with sollies second picture, hard edged green camo with octopus pattern.
I call first kill with a Sherman! I might need some help though.

I like the second Octopus pattern above. So Oxide under the skirts and it will knock your socks off.

Mustclime (Scott)
I'm with sollie, I like tanks that look like they have been put through hell, dinged, dented, shell impacts, battle damage, missing accessories and tools, and I love tanks that look like they've been cobbled together from several other vehicles. I did my Tamiya KT in a very pale oxidized Dunklegelb (Dk. Yellow) and Red Oxide Primer on mixed and matched parts. Love that look, and it especially looks cool in the photo you shared above.

I love that thrown together quickly and tossed into battle to defend the last days of the Fatherland concept. You could even use a white colored pencil to add some construction marks on the sides of the casemate. Think about it, you could say so much with so little, beats a complicated camo scheme any time, and just adds even more originality and individualality to this already unique build.

Failing that, I would also agree with the Octo pattern, for the same reason. Make it look different and visually stand out from the crowd (Not that this would get lost in a sea of tanks in the battlefield anyway - LOL ). You done an amazing job on the build and it looks great, now add some great icing to your already baked cake!

Just my 2 cents!

Streetsquid

PS if you can bring yourself to do, it would look cool to make this thing look like a veteran, add some shell shots, scrapes and dents, rip off a side skirt! I promise you'll like it~

I think your onto something there Scott. I like both those patterns you have shown. It's really up to you which you prefer.

I like the 'prototype' painting style (i.e. primer and little paint) for two reasons:
1-To distinguish the tank more on the battlefield
2-To give a 'Throw everything we've got into the fray' feeling to the axis team

Scott,
I'm still partial to the Dk. Yellow and Red Oxide Primer, because it looks hurried and incomplete, the entire tank takes on the sense of urgency, or as Borealis said the "throw everything we've got into the fray" feeling which I love. The paint job itself conveys an important message and tells a story. Below is a link to the tank I patterned my late war KT after

http://missing-lynx.com/gallery/german/tigeriidk_1.html

Now if that unfinished look doesnt appeal to you, then yes I would say the octopus pattern would be my 2nd choice of interesting and unique scheme's that would suit your E-100 very well. SO like the 2 coor plate in sollie's original post, or one of the two you included links too in your reply to me. Of those two I like the 1/35th scale E-100 from missinglynx, better than the scheme on the 1/6th KT from armortek, and especially with the E-100 missing a fender and showing the REd Oxide undercoat, to me that is just plain sh_t hot!

Just my humble opinion, but you what they say .....everyone's got one!

RE: E-100 paint advice wanted.

heres a question.....has anyone ever seen german tank that left the factory with just red oxide? I have lookedat thousands of tank pics and never seen a red oxide tank. withskys filled with planes looking for anything to shoot at, anything that could be seen was killed. I also want to paint for the Nead battle fieldand that has a lot of green in it.

I like the pic of the king tiger but it looks like it has been sitting for years. I am so impressed with the skills people on here paint their tanks with but imo many of them are showing way to much age. When the war ended, people forget that the oldest tiger tank in the world was just 3 years old.

I think I am going to use tamiya dark yellow, red brown, and dark green.....they are the colours they claim were used on the jadgtigers near the end of the war.

RE: E-100 paint advice wanted.

Yellow, olive green and red brown were the standard colours in the Wehrmacht, following a pattern on Jagdtiger probably wouldn’t be far wrong.
As for the skies being filled with fighter bombers destroying all in their path this has been somewhat exaggerated and over the last 70 years even more so, the rockets fired by Typhoons were as accurate as a politician on what he will achieve after election, very little, after battle reports have shown that very few tanks were destroyed by planes , there is also plenty on gun film showing planes shooting up tanks with machine guns the reality is though it looks dramatic on film no tank was destroyed by a machine gun even a 50 cal, they may have left dents in the armour and killed crew outside the tank but that’s all.
Tests done during the war proved that rockets fired at stationery tanks had a 90-95%+ miss ratio

RE: E-100 paint advice wanted.

Most Of the time I would differ to your knowage but I know from seeing it, 50 cals with steel tips will cut through 20mm of armor plate withone hit....make that many hits in the same area and it will cut through more. Now think how thickwere panther and tigerhulls?...regaurdless, the rear deck can be a problem with air attack. this is a interesting vid....

RE: E-100 paint advice wanted.

You have to bare in mind that none of these aircraft where coming in vertically. So even assume a 45 degree angle of attack the that works out as a fair bit more than 20mm.

rivetcounter 01-30-2013 01:40 PM

RE: E-100 paint advice wanted.

The sides of a Panther were 40mm, I have seen this film before one of the tanks is a Jagdpanther, bouncing the rounds of the floor into the belly of a tank again won’t work as most of the energy in the round would be lost when the round ricochet, soft skinned and lightly armoured vehicles are a completely different story, engine decks are as you say a different story especially the large open vents the Germans used this was a known problem.
Owing to better round fillings modern ammunition has more velocity that it’s WWII ancestors
This is also a very interesting link about rocket accuracy http://www.network54.com/Forum/57159...s+on+a+Panther

mustclime 01-30-2013 02:11 PM

RE: E-100 paint advice wanted.

The roof of the turret and hull of the panther was 15mm thick....the panther f was supose to increase this to 40mm over the crew compartment....the tiger1 had the same issue, this is whythey increased the turret roof thickness for the mid production tigers as they lost controle of the air space over the tanks......With air craft you have to worry about the roof thickness....
