Upgrades for Tamiya questions

I am getting close to ordering either a (Tamiya) Tiger or Pershing. Can one agree the biggest needed item would be a track tensioner upgrade?
The usual upgrades are in store, blue gear and metal elevation arm for either one. I am kind of leaning towards the Pershing based on two things
1. its not a big difference, but it is cheaper then the tiger
2. the sounds IMO are a lot better then the tiger.

Although I really like Tigers, I have two HL's torn apart and why buy a third. I can order a taigen lower and a clark board and come out at half the cost, or splurge and get metal tracks and various metal bits and pieces and still come out less. Plus the HL tiger was my first rc tank and I am thinking of it as more of a sentimental value to me. And turning my "first" into a beast.

Cheers,
Wade

This is the only two 'musts' you should get:

http://www.etoarmour.com/product_det...oductID=PH0010

http://www.etoarmour.com/product_det...roductID=DPE03

The DPE03 Transmission Brace makes removal of the TU's if you need to a quick deal. Stock build, getting the transmissions out is roughly akin to an act of God.

The idler system is rather a bit better than stock, as in worlds better.

The black long can motors are also nice to have. However, wait a few days on them. I'm about to reprice them as a pair. Price will be a little lower.

Thanks Robert, I will most likely do the elevation arm and a turnigy chip also.

I would go for the Pershing. Its a good runner, but a little tight inside compared to the Tiger I. Rob is right about the upgrades as well.

Oh, just get the Pershing and be done with it already and quit procrastinating! :D

Here's mine but now without the Tamiya connectors:

Well, listen to Brother Jeff here for a minute.

Don't be like me and go on a spending spree! You'll have a bunch of prospective projects piling up and NON finished. [:o]

Save your cash, finish what you got...

THEN, you'll know what to get next as you won't have such a full plate in front of you.

RE: Upgrades for Tamiya questions

That sounds like very good logical advice, now if only I would listen. My Sherman I need to get the metal vvss, waltersons gear set, and a Clark TK22. Plus I am wondering if I should get the gear shaft supports. I should finish this one first, then maybe the Tiger build. Then the Tam Pershing....... Would make the most sense..... But I don't have any.
