Help w/ servo elevation
This my second attempt at installing a servo for elevation in my tammy pershing...
I am using a 4ch Futaba 2.4 gHz w/ a fire button installed. This is the sequence from the DMD to the servo. Receiver > Dual Servo Extension Slot 1 > Tamiya Electronics Channel 3
Dual Servo Extension Slot 2 > 6" extension > Servo Rate Reducer > Micro servo The elevation works fine. The problem is when I fire, the servo "hops" a bit, enough to redirect the barrel. I have tried to insert 1 or 2 more rate reducers in sequence. The more I add, the less it hops when I fire. However, with 3 rate reducers installed, the servo twitches the whole time. Any thoughts?

|
RE: Help w/ servo elevation
Maybe a DMD/MF recalibration with the rate reducers installed?

Thanks Brett, I'll giver a try.

RE: Help w/ servo elevation
Also, you may not be able to get rid of the "hop/twitch" entirely, depending on which type of fire button you use. I've used the momentary toggle type (triainer switch on a futaba) and that's the worst for this problem, second worst was the "radio shack" fire button. I use the click-y type buttons for firing. They are the type discussed here in this thread:

RE: Help w/ servo elevation
Yeah, I tried again today and re-set everything.
It was still a bit twitchy and jumpy. Also, another problem arose after I took out the self centering spring on the Tx. After I move the stick up or down 3 or 4 notches, the sound for the barrel elevation comes on and stays on. Therefore, I cannot fire while it makes this sound. I know guys use servos for elevation, what the hell am I doing wrong? NCKT I have a clicky button installed, along with a VBT (vibrating unit) I also tried my Panther Tx, which has a Radio Shack cheap o rama momentary switch w/ no VBT. It does the same thing.
|
RE: Help w/ servo elevation
I've never used rate reducers on mine (done it on about 10 so far). I have always used the Dionysis camera positioner switches. Never had any jumps or twitches.

RE: Help w/ servo elevation
Dave,
Thought you knew of the elevation noise problem. Yup, can't fire when the elevation or depression sound is going. Most guys are using 5+ channel radios and have it mixed into different channels. To stay with a 4 channel set up you'll need to get a camera mount servo delay. It slows the servo, but also stops it in positon so you don't have to remove the self centering stick. I learned the hard way as well. For years I was doing elevation/depression fan shots with my PZ III since I had to elevate, let go of stick, then fire before my barrel got off target. http://dionysusdesign.com/product_in...fabaf3ab69fdf1
|
