Hmmmm
I ran across these folks while searching for dimensional corroboration of the armored periscope covers /shields used for the driver and radio operator's positions in the Panther D, A and the radio operator's in the Panther G. I always have tough luck finding that sort of thing Anyway in the market for a Hellcat? These are your guys: http://www.site.ww2mv.com/home.php They say they'll make a full size replica of whatever you want up to an Elefant or JagTiger! I'm still looking for the dimensions of those armored covers... Jerry |
RE: Hmmmm
wish I had the cash....I would love to get HC, one of the more fun tanks to drive...it would also make for great lawn art....http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...eeth_smile.gif

RE: Hmmmm
Yes I agree. I don't believe their boasts are entirely justified. Perhaps if one has no familiarity with the subjects those vehicles might work. I'd hate to see what mischief they'd wreck upon an Elefant or JagdTiger. Whenever I post something like this I prefer to keep the initial tone neutral so as not to discourage folks from having a look themselves however one can't dispute the obvious. And the claim that "we get the wheels right" just doesn't quite ring true does it? Jerry |
RE: Hmmmm
I'm always torn when I see stuff link this.
On one hand, I applaud the effort to create anything full size that runs and appears to be at first glance a Panther or Tiger. On the other hand, I'm usually disappointed afterwards how it misses the mark. Got to keep in mind, we are a statistical anomaly when it comes to the population that would spot the differences and if one showed up in the distance in a film, I would enjoy it. Those are light years ahead of 'paint those Pattons some sort of sandy color and throw a Balkenkruz on 'em and have them roll towards G C Scott' type that we've be treated to in the past. |
RE: Hmmmm
agree, at least someone is making an attempt to get away from the M-47 and 48s to something that looks somewhat authenticly German. Like the tiger mock-ups used in Saving Pvt Ryan and Kelly's Heros...if they'd just keep the suspension in defilade or run at a distance, and don't traverse without the engine running...these would add a lot to the movies. On the Panther, at least they could have installed a dummy sprocket in front and hide the rear with an extended skirt. The M-18 looks great. And I just cleaned out my petty cash box...

RE: Hmmmm
Real or not I'm just thinking about how much fun it would be to drive a Tiger tank up to my bosses window, and swing that 88 right in his window. Watch him blow coffee out his nose.

I did that a few years ago when I was still working at the postal service...was going to an event in the morning so dragged my tank to work. There was a parking slot directly in front of the entrance, so I coned it, went to the back, unloaded the tank and parked it in that slot....with the gun pointed straight down the entrance hallway. The supervisors went ape [X(]and demanded that I move it..I plainly told them that it was a legal parking slot for employees and it was going to stay there until I got off duty. [>:] They were nervous wrecks all night..:D. I miss that little TD..it was a lot of fun.

RE: Hmmmm
Correct...it's 11,6 tons and heavy duty chain was standard issue..over 12 tons gets very risky.
