Need help with the apple

1 Attachment(s)
Hi all, I need some help making this work. Let me explain, Before he passed Phil Pflueger wired a dbu into my tiger. It ran thru the rx18 board.Since then I upgraded to the tk20 board, works and sounds fine but now I have to get the IR reciever working. I have included a photo of the plug and wire he installed, also I included the apple and the plug for the tk20 board.
I showed the wiring plans for the rx18 and the tk20 to a coworker that understands this stuff ( I am a complete novice when it comes to this) We think we know how to wire it up, but before I do, and create a disaster, I wanted to post it here and ask for your help and advice.
Thanks for your help,
Kevin

I stole this from Darkiths website This shows the pin out arrangement that you need.

You just need identify the positive wire and make sure you always orientate the plug the right way around. You can splice your 5 pin plug onto the wiring Phil did. Just make sure you don't cross the wires and keep them in the proper sequence. I would suggest you use the red wire on your plug to indicate positive 5 volt power.

Thank you Dan, That was the way we figured it would go.

Just one more question, when it comes to connecting the wires, is it ok to use those pull apart butt connectors? Rather than solder that is

Thanks,
Kevin

I always solder. However I know 3M makes some really good press fit connectors.

Just one dumb question if I might. Without another tank is it possible to test the hookup?

just wondering
Thanks

You could probably bounce your emitter off a mirror.

If you can find Tamiya's code online, it'd be possible to program a universal remote, but aiming an emitter would probaby be easier.

Ok got the wire done then turned it on and the motors run full tilt. I have the turnigy 9x tx and as far as I can tell the switches are in the right places ?????

don't think the apple would have anything to do with you motors running full you must have a switch on that shouldn't be on

Unplug the apple. Get the tank running as it should. THen plug the Apple in and restart the tank.

I have never heard of an incorrectly wired apple causing the tank to have a runaway, so I bet the problem lies elsewhere

Cheers

RE: Need help with the apple

Thanks guys, it seems there was a switch in the wrong position, the tank is running like it should be. (normal for me anyway haha) On the subject of the turnigy, I have the motors trimmed right but was wondering do I need to do any trim on the left side controls??? It seems like theres not much room for error when using that side.

Thanks guys.
