Hi Guys, in Russia they have started the try-sales of T-72 partwork RC Tank partwork in some cities...
It will be in 16th scale with metal tracks and RC version...

Just for your information

Firts number is 69RUB = USD 1,86 (turret)

Murdock73 03-12-2014 01:36 AM

Great news Hal!
Does you know how many numbers are needed for completing the T-72?

DirtyBird69 03-12-2014 04:51 AM

About frickn time!.....FINALLY a T-72!!!!!! :D:D:D

Is this a kit? If it's just parts or does it retrofit onto an existing model? Need more info....Also when/where can you order it??? Do you have to buy the magazines and parts individually...(I don't get it)? Hell I'd just buy a subscription lol...just send me the tank!

mcovalsk 03-12-2014 06:57 AM

Thanks for sharing Hal, I would love to have a T-72 but I see will be impossible for me to take here so many parcels, I guess this will follow during months, issue after issue. Keep post us about this please.

HAL_HUSKER 03-12-2014 07:07 AM

Guys, you are absolutely correct - it is nNOT a kit!
It is a artwork. How many issues? I guess no less than 100 or may be more.

I do not know how it will work with you, probably DiaGostini will sell same artwork abroad, but I do not know. The final price for all 100 issues will be gigantic and it is a question if it is worth or no. At the end the modeler decides if this is needed or not.

Thanks for sharing, Alexey!
very interesting information.

I will deffinately... what is possible to order via their internet web-site... as soon as they start sales campaign I will share the link.

An enterprising kitbasher could fit the T-72 turret to a Heng Long ZTZ99 and dramatically change its look to something more Soviet than Chinese.

HAL_HUSKER 03-12-2014 10:14 PM

Actually changing the turret will be incorrect as you will have to rebuild completely the lower chassis as well.

DeAgostini is an Italian editor, with its main production plant about 1 hour's drive from here. I hope they will try to sell that product even in Italy, I would definitely buy it. I will keep an eye for news about that, thank you for sharing.

herrmill 03-13-2014 01:46 AM

Have to say that is interesting way to capture a market. Target Russia & then probably follow worldwide once the fish start biting.

DeAgostini, Trappit & others have done an excellent job of selling high priced subscription deals like this to the Brits.

No the hulls are completely different in dimension and you would need to completely re work the suspension lay out. Besides, what the heck is this post talking about.? If it is not a model or a kit what the heck is it? Like the prize in the bottom of a box of Cracker Jack?

cleong 03-13-2014 04:47 PM

Well, I reckoned the guys who could convert a Pershing to a Centurion would have the skills to chop the lower chassis to T-72 proportions. Putting a T-72 turret onto a ZTZ only helps to reduce the effort of conversion given the complex shape of the turret. Even so, it would probably be stand-off scale appearance and not good enough to satisfy the rivet counters.

It is a kit in a way, the parts of the model are released along with a magazine every month (i.e. first month you would get a wheel and suspension unit, next month a part of the hull, etc). The idea is to get you to build up the model while by buying the magazines month after month. This concept seems to be popular in Europe, the same company has done models of a galleon and an RC Subaru Impreza in the past.

CHIEFSONN 03-13-2014 06:15 PM

Sounds like the 1/16 scale Tiger I that came out some time ago by Hatchette.

borealis 03-13-2014 11:12 PM

Except the Tiger was not RC-able

Actually every week, not a month...

heavyaslead 03-14-2014 05:40 AM

So where can I get a subscription to this magazine to get the parts?

A online link sign-up?

cleong 03-14-2014 06:34 AM

Beware; total costs of such series are staggering - DeAgostini had a McLaren F1 car series that ended up at over $1,000 plus a year's worth of waiting for more parts to be released.

HAL_HUSKER 03-15-2014 03:26 AM

Even more than this! Be prepared :) :D

Well I've got some news Via email, and its NOT Good for those wanting THIS 1/16th Scale T-72. DeAgostini USA will NOT be carrying the T-72 issues and DeAgostini RU is not planning on selling the T-72 Series Magazines outside of the Russian Federation and Eastern Europe.

If anyone on here has got any other Sources or CLOUT in that Department that can Help us Here, then by all means, Step up to the Plate.

Thanks in advance!

herrmill 04-09-2014 07:07 PM

Maybe someone at Hooben can ask one of their Chinese buddies in Moscow to subscribe & forward the issues to China so they reverse engineer a new production kit. ;)

Ya Know I was thinking along Similar lines, that "Someone" on THAT side of the Globe would take a completed DeAgostini T-72 "kit", reverse engineer it and sell it Complete and Running. You Know, Like "Certain Companies" do to Tamiya Kits. (Wink, Wink, Nudge, Nudge)
I Was Looking forward to the JOY of Building, but I May have to Settle for a "Ready to Run" T-72, as Long as its in 1/16th Scale.
