This will be the first of its kind in an Australian tank club......
The kit is on its way from Germany and I have started stripping down the truck, the first pic is what the new cab will look like once I get it and build it..

I have let too many things get in the way of building one of these. I believe Willy is still selling these here in the states.

I will be looking forward to yours!

I have been thinking of this project for a few years but never had a starting point. So the starting point is the Globeliner? Who is Willy and what is his website? I would like to buy from the states. Thank You Fellow tankers.

Reaper332 05-28-2014 02:24 AM

Hey Mate here is Willies website link...... http://customrcmodels.com/

Rex Ross 05-28-2014 06:52 AM

A few years ago I was thinking about building a Dragon Wagon too, and the Tamiya Globeliner was my choice as the best starting point as well. Thinking about it was as far as I got on that project. Good luck with it !!!!!

Very Cool. I am watching. I am getting the coin together to pull the trigger on a Tamiya globeliner. Then the M26 cab kit. U said there will be a kit for the trailer? With all the WW 2 tanks Tamiya has produced, This would have been a good kit to mass produce. They could of up scaled their 1/35th Dragon Wagon for the cab and trailer parts and used the globeliner and possibly one of their trailer kits.

Reaper332 05-30-2014 03:41 AM

Hey mate yeah I believe the trailer is 3 - 4 weeks away...
Still have too move the whole front axle back 23mm yet and chop the rear frame rails off but that's tomorrows job...:D It would be nice if Tamiya produced them along with several other items...lol

Cheers Ken

Hey Everyone just another small update... Front bar is on as is the fenders (which need to be trimmed back yet ) and the top of the rear wall of the cab.
Next on the list is to cut the rear frame down and move the front axle back 23mm after that is the armoured window covers.

Cheers Ken

ROLLIN ARMOUR 06-01-2014 01:39 PM

LOOKING GOOD! Question, How did U know to move the axle back 23mm? Is there instructions?

Reaper332 06-01-2014 08:32 PM

Yeah mate they are instructions, just photo copied pages and its in german but you get the general idea....;)

ROLLIN ARMOUR 06-15-2014 03:50 AM

Hey mate yeah getting there slowly....lol I have a heap of stuff to do for my club at the moment as we are getting ready to do a display at a show...:D
But I managed to do a little bit to it today, I put a coat of paint on mainly to see any defects..... here it is.

ROLLIN ARMOUR 06-16-2014 04:39 AM

Looking really good. Are you going to do anything for the interior or just have the window hatches down?

Reaper332 06-16-2014 10:02 PM

Hey mate no the side windows will stay shut as I have the Truck MF unit to go in along with the speaker and such so only the front windows will be hinged to mainly allow the removal of 2 screws inside which hold the cab on and the roof will be removable to allow for access to the MF unit and battery and the other pair of screws holding the cab on... so you would only see wiring inside so there's no real need to have the windows open......;)

Cheers Ken

Rex Ross 06-17-2014 10:34 AM

What are your plans for all of that mechanical equipment behind the cab? Yikes ...... That stuff is a project all by itself !!!!!

Reaper332 06-17-2014 09:27 PM

Hey mate yeah you are right.... going to be some head scratching with that one... I have a couple of ideas for it, its not going to be 100% accurate of course but hopefully it will resemble it sort of I hope....lol

You can always cover that gear with a canvas tarp to protect it from rain, snow and dust !!!! :)

I like your thinking mate......;)

ROLLIN ARMOUR 06-19-2014 03:41 PM

Looking good. I did not even think about where all the electronics would go. I guess no need for interior. That makes it easier. Rex is right about the mechanical equipment behind the cab. I was looking at my 1/35 Dragon Wagon and Yikes is right! That is a project. Good idea about the trap. I like that idea.

Hey Reaper

may have some stuff you could use on the dragon ...Levers....these could be turned into welding tanks what do you think

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2007949

TheBennyB 06-23-2014 09:52 AM

I've found these sites useful in other builds. Used 2 of the winches from rc4wd.com on my '42 Kenworth wrecker for all the boom operations, and rctank.de has detaill items such as tools and welding tanks. Carson has some more aggressive tires than the stock tamiya, not exactly military but better
than street tires. If your planning on doing any real pulling with some weight on the trailer you may want to look into a gear reduction as well.
As you know the tamiya truck are geared pretty high to simulate onroad speeds and they don't have much low end power even in low gear.

Thanks Airbrushler that stuff will be great.... and thanks TheBennyB for the links they will come in handy and yeah offroad tyres are in the plans along with a gear reduction for more pulling power.....;)

Well everyone here's the next update in the build of the DW...:D
The truck Multi Function unit is back inside and it up and running again.. also added some bits and pieces to the outside so its slowly getting there.....lol

Flame that is absolutely a brilliant build...;) thanks for sharing.

Hi thecommander the trailer came to me pre made and is from the same company I brought the truck cab from.. can't recommend Roland from Modellspiegel enough he is very helpful and a great guy to deal with.

Ok I painted the float and weathered it today, the last 3 pics are of the top deck as I redid it due to not being happy with it.

Cheers Ken
