Module telemetry.
 

I'm thinking of buying a Frysky JR module from HK as their Orange branded receiver has died on me and they are out of stock in my local warehouse. I want an upgrade and I found a module and receiver set. The thing is, it has telemetry built in. Since I don't know much about radios or RC aviation, I'm not sure if telemetry is needed at all or if it will affect how a tank handles.

Can someone with more knowledge than myself confirm if telemetry will affect a tank? Don't want to spend over AUD $40 on a bundle if it will affect the handling of a ground vehicle.

Soul Telemetry is useless to a tank. It won't change the controls or operation but it is a useless feature that has no bearing as a tank. you would be better off buying a Turnigy 9XR from RCtanks http://rctanksaustralia.com/shop/ind...0aeff911b4550c
this would be more than capable of handling any need you have and they are in Oz so you would get lots of support.

Telemetry right now is still kind of budding. The idea of it sounds great, but the costs are restrictive. The only telemetry option I can see being useful for a tank is the voltage. Even then you should be able to feel when your tank is starting to die.
I have a telemetry system set up in one of my cars, but I can't honestly see a big reason to install one on the tanks. The system is light so weight isn't an issue, but man can the costs rise :(

I've thought about using a form of Telemetry in my tanks; my 1:10 being powered by glow engines it might be useful to keep an eye on
engine speed and head temperature. I have a stand alone Webra system but have yet to use it. I don't run them that much where it's an issue.

I can't see the use in an electric powered tank unless one was concerned about battery temperature??

By the sounds of it, telemetry won't affect any controls, correct? I'm not getting it for the telemetry, it's just the only one I can find cheap and for a 9XR as to my knowledge, Turnigy haven't released any of their own modules. Unless I'm not looking hard enough which is more than likely the case.
