Rotating periscopes/

Last night I was reworking the periscopes on the Cromwell build. I used a flange bearing as a periscope base and fashioned a styrene tube to run down the center. The periscope hood is then attached to the styrene tube, and you end up with a nice rotating periscope.

Hi Dan
Nice idea. What size bearing did you use?

I am not sure what it was. It would depend on the size of periscope you wanted. It was probably about a 4mm X 10mm

Hi Dan
Cool. Thinking about retro fitting these into my M26, driver, bog, TC & loader positions. Will have to check the dimensions when I get home.

I did that with my Sturmtiger but didn't use a bearing. I figured a bearing may let it rotate freely while receiving all the bumps when driving around. Was thinking about this for my Sherman build but for only the turret as it would look funny if the hatches were to open too.

Clever idea!
