Time to read

Just yesterday I had surgery on my left foot big toe to (hopefully) correct a painful problem with the joint.
So I'm not going to be hiking, walking far, standing by any machine tool or any workbench for a while. Painkillers
are my friends( think bone grinding and cutting and a pin holding it all together to boot).

So I should have time to read from the pile 'o books I've gathered if I am not trying to sleep, that or watch the Telly.

Boy ya really cannot fully appreciate the ability to do something until ya cannot do it! truth is I've always loved walking/ hiking......😥

Just long as I don't end up being called old Pegleg...

How about Young Pegleg? :)

Hope you get well soon, Bro. Can you at least sit at the modeling bench? Sounds like time for a little super-detailing.

Good luck on your recovery.

Get well. i'm glad you were able to get the problem corrected. Now just don't rush it. Take your time and keep a pen and paper close by. You'd be surprised what kind of ideas that you could come up with when you can't do some of the things that you normally would.

Hey Jerry
I promise not to call you Pegleg (young or old). How about Stumpy? Can you still walk in a straight line, or do you walk in circles now? Have you considered converting two of your tanks into a pair of r/c shoes with track? I/10 scale tanks ---- size 10 shoes ---- just a coincidence? I don't think so.........
rex

edit. I forgot to suggest, If you need to go anywhere --- just call a toe truck.

Tanque 02-24-2015 09:55 AM

Hmmm you may have something there Rex.

Say while u mentioned it can u whip me up a 1:10 scale toe truck?

I know u could probably whip one up over the next week or so......

Hey Jerry, hope you're feelin' better. If you wanna kill two and a half minutes here's a piece from the half-assed build log I've been keeping on the two drum trailer. Since the video I flat coated and now I just have to paint the drums. Airbrush for those, as well as a little fading on the trailer. Be sure to let me know if you want to use the PE lids for the ends. I think that came out well, and I just need to figure out the bungs. I think the pieces from the PE set are for the drum when sealed closed, so I need to figure out what it looked like in action. I found one photo that shows an outlet on the rear drum and a kind of "T" on top of the front drum. Know anything about how they plugged into the tank? And do you think I made the fenders too wide? Here's the photos I have, neither one of a real trailer. :(

Sounds like a perfect time to take on an apprentice! Get someone to do all the dirty work of casting for you and appreciate it!!
Hope you get well soon.

Hey I can begin to walk short distances again! I can drive, automatics only, manuals have to sit it out for a while...

Stitches come out next week, pin ( like a grenade!) comes out two weeks after that; then stretching and ability to hike a month or so after that.
Doc told me I'm healing well. He told me besides reducing the bone spurs he also pulled out a number of per-existing bone chips from joint;
rather handily explains why it hurt sometimes more than others as these things floated about...I'm hoping he got them all out .

I'm just glad that I can get out of the house if I need/want to...sheese! I like my house but really!

Does this mean that it wasn't you running the San Diego Half Marathon last week?:D shaun

Max-U52 03-04-2015 03:53 AM

Really glad to hear you're feeling better, Jerry. Has all this "staying off your feet" business allowed you to sit at the bench? Getting any good modeling done? I'd imagine those king-sized tanks you like require a bit more heavy lifting, so I hope this hasn't impaired your hobby time to much.

Rex Ross 03-04-2015 07:59 AM

Jerry.
I'm really glad to hear your recovery is going well. I was very disappointed to learn that you had to postpone your appearance on Dancing with the Stars. Your tap dancing routine rivals Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. In show business they wish you success by saying "break a leg", but I don't think that is appropriate considering your present condition.

But seriously, about 25 years ago I had similar problems with my knees. I was walking with two canes. Arthroscopic surgery fixed me up like new. Yippee !!!

But I still use - bad knees - as an excuse to get out of any kind of work.

See you at soccer practice. :)
