Since we are talking about the TBS mini here, I was wondering if Dan or somebody could clear up some connection questions I have regarding splitting the TBS sound output to the Clark and an audio amp, I know you use the Spkr + to connect to the TK22 CN4 pin 3 to combine the TBS with the Clark sound. But the Benedini manual says use the Spkr- and Ground to connect to an external amp. So does the TBS Spkr GND go to the amp's Input - and the TBS's Spkr- go to the amp's Input+? Thanks.

I follow more or less the manual by using 2 resistors of 240 Ohms and a 50 K Ohms potentiometer to adjust the mix with the Clark Amp.

I have TBS going to a 15Watt amp from Dan. the only connection that i made from the TBS to the Amp was the signal out to the amp. Now with that being said the amp also works off of it's own power. what i mean is the amp is drawing it's voltage direct from the battery. So the only connection that i needed was the signal. Now if your running an amp that is slaving it power from another devise then you might have to connect more connections. As far as the speaker itself it just plugs into the + and - terminals.
Now with all that being said I am not using a Clark. I'm using the BARC4. But i would imagine that if your amp is running on it's own power source that the hook up would be the same as mine. Bill |
Be very careful. Typically you only hook up the signal for the TBS to the amp. (Top LS output pin) Do not hook up speaker ground. I disable this connection on the amps I sell as I destroyed a TBS when I inadvertently hooked up what I thought was a common ground. The result was a fried on- board amp on the TBS.

Thanks for all the replies. That's what confuses me. I know that the TBS signal is the top LS pin which is what is connected to the Clark via a 25K resistor. Now I was going to split it to an amp to drive another speaker like what strmnd54 did to his acoustic smoker but was confused when the Benedini manual said use the LS- and ground to the amp. So which one is the right one LS- or LS+ to the amp? I am trying to avoid the exact thing that Dan mentions.

I forgot to mention, the amp will be getting its power from the same battery as the Clark. Thanks.

So are you only going to use the TBS to deliver sound to two speakers? The amps I sell have outputs for two speakers. So just one wire from the TBS to the AMP, and then you can have two speakers tied into the amp.
If you are paralleling the TBS LS out, you probably need to be concerned about over driving the on board amp. it might be safer to run it in series with your existing speaker. |
The one improvement I would like to see on the TBS mini would be the addition of a " Pre-Amp OUT "; for connecting to an external audio amp.

But you can connect to an external amp. I have 15w two speaker amp in Bulldog. You just connect the audio signal out to the amp and thats it. One pin connection. Or am I just completely missing what your asking for?

Can the Clark TK22 and Benedini Mini TBS play music while playing the tank sound effects?
|
The answer to that could be yes. It would depend on how you were integrating the two systems.
