Tammy electronics problem
 

Anyone seen this one yet. Turn on power and DMD lights flash green for about 10 seconds then go solid orange. Also if input anything in the 10 seconds they go solid
orange. RX has solid green so TX is bound. Battery is fully charged and tried another for poops and giggels. TX battery is full. All cables look to be intact and plugged in.
Any thoughts? Is the sucker fried?

Sounds like me like the DMD is receiving servo signals it doesn't like. Tried cross-swapping receivers and electronics from another tank to isolate the problem?

your problem sounds like low battery or a receiver incompatability.

I'm using the JS-2 manual which I downloaded from Tamiya USA's website that provides a troubleshooting guide at the end of the PDF. Its that little booklet that comes which each kit and details the electronics features: https://www.tamiyausa.com/pdf/manuals/56035ml.pdf

On page 47 of the PDF, there is a table that decodes what each set of blinking lights does.

Two blinking green lights indicate incorrect wiring of motor, reverse switch position is incorrect, or the controller is set incorrectly.

Two solid orange lights indicate that there is too much electric current for the motor.

What I interpret that to mean is that there is possibly a short in your motors somewhere, and after a while, the system goes into safe mode to prevent damage. I hope that helps.

Yea, checked the manual first before coming here and saw the overload possibility. Don't think its a TX/RX issue, tank was run last week fine then put on shelf with no fiddling.
DMD does have a bit of electronic failure smell if you know what I mean. Wierd thing is no sound at all, and the issue of slight input (say turret rotation) then it goes from green to orange. Also no green light for flash or (operational) on MF.

Intersting Leong, All my DMD's blink green and are good to go till throttle is applied. Solid green for forward and solid red for reverse, though I've never followed Tammy's guide to setup TX and channels I like to operate with.

I had this issue benny, I had taken the case of for some reason and it shorted on the metal tub. Just had the Orange solid lights. It did come back to life after about a year.

3. Long shot: Do you have WIFI?
If so, had a similar problem with an older (decade) Tiger IE DMD T-03, MF-01 controller set and putting a "rubber mat" to insulate, between the metal hull and the MF Unit and the DMD Unit sitting atop the MF Unit fixed the weird issue and restored operation to the controller set. The WIFI plus an older DMD Unit, MF Unit was the problem. The WIFI did not effect any of my other, newer, Tamiya DMD-MF controllers. The Tamiya USA Tech discovered the issue.

Thanks guys. It's essentially a brand new unit. I've returned plenty of MF's before so I guess I'll just go that route and see what Tamiya says.

Have you tried with the MFU unplugged and try a test run on just the DMD.

Yup, tried most variables I could think of. They are in the mail to CA and we'll see what they say.

Well that sucks but at least you know they will be in good hands
