barbed wire
Hey guys,
Just posted this. Made a bunch so had extra. Not totally accurate but looks cool... http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-16-Tank-sc...item2801381563 |
What did you use to make it, it does look good.
|
Acrylic screen cut apart individually, primed with Tamiya and then painted gunmetal with a black wash and then a rust wash. So I don't think it's a bad deal with time cutting, painting, packaging, and free shipping....
For the tanker who just doesn't want to spend the time making their own... |

For the tanker who just doesn't want to spend the time making their own... When I first saw your barbed wire I thought that was how you made it (I tried that ----- once). Then I thought ---- no, that's not humanly possible to do for more than a few inches. You must have good eyesight, a steady hand, a lot of patience and the skill of a brain surgeon to produce that. I could maybe make a length of that for about a foot before I was taken to the funny farm to learn basket weaving. WOW! rex P>S> I just bought one. |
LOL! Some Smirnoff coolers and Pink Floyd... 24 inches is the length of my cutting board. I have a way to do it that is a little quicker but still takes...a....long....time... to cut! :p
I will only make them once in a while when I need them and make a few extra to sell. In this case I had 30 packets of 3 in each, now 25 packets... yours is on the way Rex, post a pic when you mount it! :D |
Link just takes me to the ebay home page, not a listing. Could you post a picture here? Wanna see what it looks like.

Sorry about that. Try this one

I used PE strands on my StuG, Aber I think, but they were both expensive and sharp, a pain in the arse and in the end didn't really look that much better than your when rolled up.
Great job, idea and value too. |
Thanks Ausf, these pics are really close up too. It actually looks even better a little further away like if you look on the ebay link.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-16-Tank-sc...item2801381563 I will mention too that anyone who buys 2 and mentions this forum I will throw in a third pack for free! :-) |

I find it hard to believe that a 1:1 scale human being can produce 1:16 scale barbed wire from screen door stuff. ---- and all of the barbs are consistently the same length. You are giving me ideas. Let's see now ---- if I was to build a 1/16 diorama of a small fenced off ammo dump (about 1 acre), and it had a six wire fence around it, I would only need ----- Uhhhh, where's my calculator ???? rex |
Glad you like it! :-) And you lucked out with all the barbs the same length. As much as I try to keep them consistent they are cut by hand...
I am looking at a way to make 4 to 5 foot lengths but that may be a while. I too would like to set up some wire fields and this stuff should work pretty well being so flexible. My idea is to make posts with the wire anchored to it and roll it all around a large cardboard tube to store and then be able to unroll and "plant" it at battledays. Worth a try anyway... :-) |
