Trying Out The New Camera

Well, I still don't have that turret re-wired and I've still got a ton of stuff to do and the weekend's darn near gone, so I finally said "Frak it, I can't wait any longer to get my hands on this new camera!" and I tool a couple tanks out back to try out the feeble little amount of stuff I've learned so far. That would be using the auto stuff, downloading photos and videos to the computer, and taking video. I only took about a half dozen pictures and this was the only one I thought worthy of posting, and the video is just to try it out. I did the video set on 1920x1080 and it took a LOT longer to upload to youtube. Now I'll get to see how bad youtube butchered it. Definitely click for full screen, that little window in the post doesn't do a video justice at all.

I've obviously still got a lot to learn, but I think I can see the potential here.

Definitely much, much better than the instamatic, even now when I still haven't got a clue what I'm doing. Just wait till I get this thing figgered out! :)

Looking good! I spent the weekend at my lake house(Lake of the Ozarks) and took my tiger with me intending to take it to the Castle ruins at Ha Ha Tonka state park but got sidetracked with the boat races. Maybe over labor day, something about a photo of the tiger with this in the background just seems cool.

But here is a pic from the boat races......jet turbine power!

Yes, that will make a very cool background. Did you see the photos Pah co chu puk posted with the mountains in the background? The other day Patton was on TV and the very last seen shows George and Willy walking out into this huge field with mountains for a skyline and the only other thing in the shot is a huge windmill. Greg could duplicate that easily with a tank in place of Patton. All he needs is the windmill. I think that would be sooo cool I'm tempted to build a windmill and send it out there just so I can see the picture. A Tiger One Late moving off towards the mountains with that windmill off to one side. If I motorize the windmill it would also make an excellent video clip.

With a high pixel count camera the crop feature in software editing can be very helpful. You can take your picture with a good focal length, and then just crop it to look like a close up. You won't get too much pixelating unless you really zoom in and crop. In your example you could have taken that shot from 5 feet back and then just cropped it. Your depth of field would have been better and the guys in the foreground would be more in focus with the tanks in the back.

Just a trick that digital a camera has over the old style film camera, As the pixel count goes up the better result this trick will produce.
