1/16 SdKfz 186 Jagdtiger (Hunting Tiger) Tank Destroyer
Sneak peak from Facebook not too long ago and I cannot wait to get one too!
https://www.facebook.com/TrumpeterModel https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...ff&oe=56A523DE Much more detailed than I thought but after it's all said and done... Tamiya will probably release it as a FO kit! http://ww2photo.se/tanks/d/pz6/jag.ti/07426.jpg Jeff |
FO jagdtiger from Tamiya Oh mama :-)

Actually I DO like it and it's quite fine but I like to build things. If Trumpeter had not announced this it might be that way. Jeff |
Trumpeter is really making it hard for me. I want the Taigen Jagdtiger. Maybe it will fit the Taigen lower hull. Would probably get the Trumpeter kit just to build.
|
Yeah, the Taigen is quite awesome (and even better that it's not ALL METAL like first thoughts were) but I have 2 Tamiya KT FO kits so one will be a Jagdtiger.
PLUS the Trumpeter kit will have so many more options like a full gun and an engine to assemble PLUS the ammo... Jeff |
Nice.
|
Looks really nice and detailed (as expected) too bad much of it will not be used. And too bad too the price tag most likely will be close to $400.00 or slightly more. :p
http://filscalemodels.ph/testshots/t...jagdtiger.html But... I can always build the engine and set it aside. The breach/gun detail is going to another secret project. (and no it's not a Sherman) Jeff |
Wow!!! This could be used to really super detail an R/C Jagdtiger!!!
|
So was that 21 Shermans I counted in the photo? Was it 6 Tanks destroyers against 21 Shermans? If so how did that turn out?
|
Have any of the Taigen or HLs been converted and made it onto the battlefield yet?

NICE! http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_q2bHaft_vk...with+drool.jpg Lots of pics please! Jeff |
I have opened the box and there are three boxes inside. There is a lot of detail in this kit. I want to see if I can just add the metal lower hull pan of the Tamiya Tiger II to the inside of the plastic lower hull. If that works wow!!!

1. For a good how to write up on the Tamiya KT metal hull converted to a corrected length Jagdtiger Tamiya metall hull, visit here: http://www.finescale.com/~/media/imp.../fjt010434.pdf. 2. Or perhaps get a Taigen Jagdtiger metal hull: http://www.taigentanks.com/taigen-tank-parts/tag120655 |
Maus, down the road when the "kid in the candy shop" wears off.....maybe? Any chance your going to put an IR compatible board in this sucker? Would love to know how it performs under combat weight on the last hit. Lets see some pics!!

Tips, the Tamiya King Tiger hull pan will need to be lengthened for correct road wheel to idler wheel spacing.

I have a camo Jagdtiger on order for xmas from Tankzone. It's the Torro one with all the torsionbar suspension and metal bits. It looks pretty much correct in scale and a good platform to improve on - want barrel recoil and gun traverse with a clark board in it so some improvement work to do. Would love a Tamiya kit of this tank but they seem reluctant to do one - not sure why. This will do for now - always loved the JT.

"Feels" like I better get an early Christmas present because it may just be a limited run kit. :( Jeff |

John, How do you know he's looking for direct wheel placement and not just an aluminum tub/insert to reinforce?
Which seems like the long way home to build an rc Jagdtiger  1. A Trumpeter plastic kit hull with a Tamiya KT metal inner hull liner to reinforce the plastic hull weak points. 2. A stand alone Tamiya KT kit lengthened metal hull, a proven hull with plenty of available after market parts to improve the hull performance. 3. A Taigen Jagdtiger kit hull setup, an effective solution when used as a base for a Trumpter Jagdtiger rc detailed conversion build Each direction works. Other build thoughts. A. Correct spacing between the idlers and the Jagdtiger road wheels pretty much makes or breaks the build if using the Tamiya KT hull as a stand alone structure. B. A directly aligned road wheel Tamiya KT Hull drop in fit inside a Trumpeter Jagdtiger plastic hull is not likely, but MAUS 45 will let us know? Of course, the build goal using the Tamiya metal hull as an inner liner would be; how to best to use it to strengthen the Trumpeter plastic hull idler hull walls and gearbox floor mount areas. And the Tamiya KT metal hull is to short to do both of those jobs without some cutting and reassembly modifications, so why do that? I don't know why. C. As I noted, advanced modelers have successfully cut the Tamiya KT metal hull into sections to make a Jagdtiger stand alone longer hull and not used or need a plastic outer hull. Why do that, seems like a real troubled build direction. D. I happened to recall a well done past Tamiya Jagdtiger scratch build, thus I posted that info. E. For a rc model conversion, hanging on to the Trumpeter Jagdtiger kit plastic hull kinda seems unnecessary, when the metal KT hull has been modified successfully in the past to do that job as a stand alone Jagdtiger hull. F. Anyway, I'm interested in Jagdtiger builds right now and today a Taigen version seems like the best solution as a base for a Tamiya compatible IR Jagdtiger build. John |
