What Hulls are you building these on?

fynsdad 01-27-2016 11:10 PM

She's based on a HL Dan..

You are using the HL suspension as well then?

fynsdad 01-28-2016 07:57 AM

the suspension is a mash up of HL bogies and Mato wheels..I've also fitted a pair of adjustable idlers and Mato T74 tracks...

RichJohnson 01-28-2016 08:55 AM

Have you tried those new metal henglong bogies yet?
i might... I really want to try taigens, but those darn HL shermans keep on running and they are so cheap. Its just, pick up a hl build compared to a tamiya and you can feel it.

YHR 01-28-2016 10:51 AM

I like the Mato Metal bogies as they are protypically accurate in the way they function.

fynsdad 01-28-2016 10:59 AM

yes they are better although I think they ride too high sometimes...this was just an experiment to see if I could get the wheels to fit the bogies.....

yellowshaker 01-28-2016 04:29 PM

When I converted my Tamiya hull with the metal Mato suspension, I redid the springs to be a bit softer. They were quite hard, as if designed for a much heavier hull at the time....before they had a metal hull from mato.

Hi Frank it is possible to fit the Mato plastic wheels to the heng long boggies but you do have to fit bushes to the wheels .I have done it a couple of times because the mato wheels are slightly wider so the mato tracks run better.

I want to know who deals your parts ;) I spent some time searching for a Sherman over the summer to start my Grant, and I couldn't find a 'deal' so easily.

Do you have a keg full of Mato parts too? :P

Looks good.

RichJohnson 02-05-2016 01:25 PM

Nice.
But Lucy Sue was an M4A2 ,not an a3. Just to be nit picky. :p

fynsdad 02-05-2016 03:53 PM

...but as I think no US army combat unit used a2's I thought I'd use a bit of artistic licence...

RichJohnson 02-05-2016 05:45 PM

Marines used the a2s in the pacific.
But un ETO thT is probably true. USA used m4s A1s and A3s with an eventual decision to prefer the A3 for US issue only.

edoubleaz 02-06-2016 06:19 PM

Nice job! You can build whatever you want with a movie character tank.
