Crius: When you disguise your camera like that, please share with us, that's exactly what I would like to do.

Erik: I googled that Pico cameras and they look like definitelly the way to go. Im not worried too much about video and audio quality.

Maillemaker: 200-400 bucks for a fpv system for two people? Here you have a complete system for less than that, two of them would be 120 bucks:

You always could replace the camera for a smaller one if you want to disguise it.

By the way, here is a video that I saw some time ago and really liked it. This guy put 3 cameras in a 1/24 scale tank:

So if he can, we can!

Hey, great find! That's what I'm talking about! I was looking at goggle systems, but the goggles themselves start at $200 from what I found.

I'm betting you could mount their panel display unit under the brim of a baseball cap! :)

All it would need is a tiny camera, like you said.

OK, now I'm hopeful again!

Not so sure about that web site, though...

If you are looking at $200 for a video setup then you are looking in the wrong places :) $200 for a full setup is fine, but after that it should only be a few bucks to add an additional camera/video TX.

The link Bret posted is the IR system, I like the one on the mantlet of the Panther.

The entire set-up with the Mobius was less than $240, including the goggles.

Almost everything I know about FPV I learned from Erik. He's the guy y'all should be listening to, not me. :)

Rad, I'll do video when I do this, but it will be a while. Probably late summer.I have the i10, the camera and the goggles and laser pointers, but I still haven't bought the tank!

There are spycam units that talk over wifi to your tablet for like $50. I think that is the way to go. There is a bit of lag but nothing that I think would matter for tank driving.

And I imagine wifi would eliminate the limited number of units that could be broadcasting. Everyone gets their own IP address. I guess bandwidth could be a problem though.

Ive heard several times that the wifi units just they have too much lag to have fun. Even if it is just one second its very very annoying.

You can make an experiment as I did, if you have two smartphones you can use one as a camera and transmiter and the other one as a receiver and screen. I have played with it several times and the lag is really and issue.

maillemaker 02-04-2016 07:35 AM

Yup, I have a GoPro camera and it does wifi, and the lag is considerable.

But if you watch the video for this product:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-AI-Ball-...-/170936697046

You will see that the lag is not terrible.

You could think of it as the time delay experience between when you give the command and your crewman executes it. :)

That said, you can get an actual transmitter kit for about the same price, and it includes a receiver/display:
