"NEW" projects for 2016?
So what "new" projects will everyone start (or will consume the whole calendar year) this 2016, since we ARE 3 months into it? Whether it's opening a new kit, modifying an existing RTR or even some kit bashing.
I find myself just weeks away from finishing my Panther but do want to build one of my King Tigers... whichever one that is and then have several side projects to work back and forth on. So... what's YOUR list? (now these are keepers... no projects slated to be sold) Jeff |
Trying to finish projects from 2015, the Luchs and Puma.
|
I've got the Ersatz M10, the Pz IV, the Kubel and the Schwimm all to finish.
Then the 38(t) to build, but I doubt I ever will so I probably should sell the scale 35 setup to someone who'll use it. Truth is, I've been concentrating my bench time on a RC Type VII and Vospers MTB, tanks are in the back seat for now. Chances are when I finish the M10 and IV, they'll go up for sale since my sons are focused on other things and NEAD seems to have dried up, there's not much battling going on in my neck of the woods, no reason to do all that work just to it on the shelf. I'll keep the T-34 and JS-2 of the Prada school and I'll never give up my original Tiger I. |
I just got that panzer 38T and tried to get the rc upgrade kit from 35 rctank but hes out of stock right now. inwould be interested in your upgrade kit if you let it go.
im trying to finish up this halftrack T12 build and my jumbo too. Also plan on another ez8 this summer then a small hatch. We will see how much time I can steal from my toddler. |
First of I hope to finnish my kv1 soon. Then I have a New Jagdtiger on the way, that needs to look less 'shiny' , so that will get my attention this spring. And I also hope to lay away enough for a tamiya is-2 by the end of the year.

After I finish my Stug IV, I will tackle my Tammy Jagdpanther. After that I plan on finally finishing my E-100 project. I bought a kit from Ludwigs to turn it into a Stug E-100 TD. I am on a super German TD kick at the moment and am looking at building either a Nashorn or Dicker Max after that.

No new projects for '16, just trying to finish last years.
I am mashing up a Trumpeter and Tammy PIV, while also using the same lower for a Asiatam StugIV. It has been mostly cutting and fitting virtually every Trumpeter part to fit on the Tamiya chassis, hull, and turret. I got bogged down in the details, and you can see in this photo, I kinda got carried away. I also have been short on time since the summer, but hope to regain momentum soon. This is the only photo so far, even though it is further along then when this was taken. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2151614 |
DaveBcool, I am going to do the same thing with my Trumpeter/Tamiya Panzer IV bash. I know EugeniRUS is looking at doing the same thing as well. Are you just adding details from the Trumpeter to the Tamiya or have you tried using the hull parts on the Tamiya metal hull? The photo is good will you have more?
Thanks, Rudy |
I can/will have more photos, and I should specify that I am doing a IVH.
I am kind of making this up as I go along, as I don't have enough experience with this to have an exact 'plan.' But mostly what I have done so far, is chop up the trumpeter parts and apply them to the tammy structure and mechanicals. I do plan on battling it at Danville when I'm done, so I decided to go with the durability/reliabilty and my familiarity of the Tamiya. The detail on the trumpeter is awesome, like the crown bolts on the UNDERSIDE of the fenders. However, the chassis and hull are just too flimsy as they are to try to R/C. My talents lie in the detailing and painting, I'm no engineer like Daryl Turner. It is also taking a really long time to build since I am also trying to account for durability as much as I can. Most of the bigger details are bolted on from the inside. For example in the photo, the engine and the turret traverse mufflers are screwed to the hull. Even the spare metal track links have been bolted on, while the plastic tie downs are just there for show. I've started on the turret, and I will be using the tammy base but applying the trumpeter hatches and storage basket (and maybe cupola). The trumpeter is so well detailed that it is a great reference for the project. For example I added the countersunk screws to the tammy turret roof. I planning on doing more of a build-like thread at some point, I just have not had any time. |
Finish my Tamiya KV1.
Paint tracks on the Taniya Leopard 2a6 and Tiger I. Purchase next project - be it a T55 or Panzer IV. |
Finish my PzIV...make some tweaks to my PzIII...stash cash for future projects. Drive tanks in meantime.
|
I say this with no disrespect, but it seems great minds think the same. You seem to be going down the same path I have charted for my build. Durability and detail are difficult but not impossible to have in an r/c tank. Well as long as some other r/c tank dose not run you over???:p I have done more planning then building, but have a good idea of where I will go with this and you have shown it can be done. Looking forward to you thread and build photos. Thanks again Rudy.

Old is new again.... I am using current materials and parts to repair or finish all my shelf queens and "projects". M4A1, SU-122, T23, M4A2, T34/76. The money has already been spent in years past... I want to get them on the field!!!!

Nothing on the horizon for me. Tanks are not in focus right now. Personally got back into slot cars and my model railroad. Just doing custom work when it comes up
Cheers |
well mine is a battlefield project I started for my Challenger 2, Bulldog M41, Tiger 1, Sherman and Abrams tank, mixed in few other goodies for background here is what I got so far.

I'm in the same situation as edoubleaz. My new project for the year is to finish all of the projects I have on the shelf that only need a paint job. Painting is not my favorite part of this hobby and I really gotta git organized. I want to paint most of these with a camo scheme and that means I will have to practice up on my airbrushing skills --- which are crappy. I am planning on using Tamiya Acrylics. Any advice about that?

Rex - bottom right is that based on a leopard chassis? Can't remember the name now - mbt70?
|
I am still plugging along on a 38t, N. African Sherman, Luchs, and custom Hetzer lower hull for customers and trying to keep my own stuff running and up to date. Family health is not helping me stay ahead of things though.
