HL M1A...After talking to Ethan, from DAK over the weekend about my growing addiction. He made some suggestions about what to do next, "pick one of my tanks and detail it and run my other two and have fun".
So here is the question...Taking the HL M1A and using the info that I have, would you guys do the M1A2 SEP Tusk II (e.g.The Tamiya kit) or would you do M1A2 SEP V2 (e.g. The Dragon kit)?
I like both, and each has their own challenges...Either way the HL chassis will be gutted and new radio and electronics will be fitted.

I'm thinking of adding this set up to my Abrams. I've seen it called the mounted solder system (MSS).

The skirt detail seems like less trouble to scratch build than the Tamiya set up.

Not a huge fan of the Tamiya Tusk 2. I have the Dragon SEP V2 model in 1/35 scale so I might just make mine identical to it. I do like the pics above and it wouldn't take much more to do that to mine. I'm not a fan of the added armor underbelly though on a model. I think it would just reduce the ground clearance too much. I would probably leave it off.

The "Reactive Armour?" Should be easy...Hehehehe...Simple tube shape. make one, cast the 55 or 60...Like laying roof tiles...

Derek, if I did the math right at it's thickest point the underbelly would be about 1/8th".

I dont like the sand bucket look of the TUSK ERA. Looks like a bunch of flower pots hanging on the side of the tank.

What is missing on all these models is the extra fold away stowage basket on the rear of the turrets. All M1A1 and M1A2's have this folding rack but the HL model does nothave it at all.
I fabricated mine from brass rod and screening and it makes the tank truly look up-to today's standard.

HEHEHE...Was thinking "Wine Rack", But yeah...flower pots work...

Does any one have a bare bones, empty hull for this or can some one point to link where I can get one...
