Wow, wonder if they will sell the upper hull parts separately? Comes with the same zimmerit type stickers as the Tiger II did. Nice that they include the schutzen!!!

Is that a plastic idler wheel I see??

Hmmm.

The picture doesn't lie... looks like plastic to me too. Any Tamiya Panzer IV owners care to comment?

And someone tell Ken it's "LANG", not LANGE  (which is long in German).

Well, The Tammy PIV J comes with a cast white metal idler, and no trace of the early welded type like in the photo above.
No tammy tanks have a plastic idler that I know of.

I used a metal Taigen early idler on the one I'm converting using a Trumpeter H.
It was pretty much a perfect fit.

I wonder how the extended and sloped front hull will attach if it is the same lower as the J?
How rugged will it be?

I was hoping to be able to swap tops with my current lower.

Besides the Tiger I, I've alter all my Tamiyas so they are hinged in the rear and the tops flip up like a Funny Car.
I doubt you'd have trouble swapping out between lowers since the lower front glacis slope isn't too far off vertical.

I'm assuming a lot would depend on the layout of the traverse/elevation, but I doubt they altered the IV system much.

I was thinking along the lines of buying the sprues from AAF when released, but it might be cheaper in the long run to get the full kit by the time the traverse, elev, recoil is worked out. Sure it could be done with servos, etc. like I did with the SU-100, but it adds up in time and money with limit switches, servos and mounts.

If we're talking $700 with the Attack Tx from Banzai, spending $500 of parts and headaches isn't worth it.

I thought it was coming, sweet!

Jeff

thanks for the vocabulary lesson Jeff

The idler wheel is different than what's on my Panzer 4s. Idlers on mine are white metal, and have a skeletonized outer 1/2 of each of the seven spokes.

Cruiser133 05-12-2016 08:07 PM

Always after I bash one together! This happened to me on the Sturmtiger as well. I hunted for MONTHS to find an old Torro, finally found one then bashed it together with a Tammy Tiger. A few months later, Imex has awesome kits already done. Then I get the bug to do a JPIV. I find a kit but I think I got one of the last Jagdpanzer kits from the dude in Eastern Europe before his business went **** up. After a few hectic weeks of anguish, my kit finally arrived in a rather sorry state, missing some parts with the box looking like it was used as a soccer ball. After finally sorting out the all metal Asiatam lower () and getting all the electronic bugs worked out, I have a half way decent build. Now this comes out!!!! Oh well, at least I have the memories... :)

Panther F 05-13-2016 01:50 AM

Oh, but it was worth it in the end Erik. Building is better than buying... at least I feel that way about my projects.

I sold mine because at the time I thought $50 + for a barrel was extreme (and a resin barrel would snap if used) then I realized I'd never get around to it anyway. Now, projects out of the way I can buy one.

But really, what's one more Jagdpanzer IV on your list there?

Jeff

DaveBcool 05-13-2016 03:17 AM

I don't know how much I would have to change other than the barrel, but I might try to make a short barreled version.
That L70 barrel mounted so close to the front will be a challenge to drive in Danville.
I can see it now, driving around and dragging trees, knocking over scenery, poking other tanks in the eye...

I also wonder how hi/low the apple will sit in the chassis.
I hope to use its low profile as an advantage when battling.

Panther F 05-13-2016 03:38 AM

Yeah I know... that barrel can do some serious landscaping! LOL

I'm thinking too big here again but I also like the Jagdpanzer IV/70 (ZWISCHENLÖSUNG) version.

This version will only mess with the taller trees. ;)

Just found this on youtube.
Anyone speak Japanese that wants to translate?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-nA9X0_7io

Looks like they either added some detail to the molds, or whoever modeled it did a good job.
For example, I saw the skip welds added to the rear plate which I added to mine.

Nice video. I want one now.

Driving this around Danville would be no different than driving a JP.

One thing about apple height is that if the apple sitts lower than a PZ4 then it would take hits more easily. This is why the train wrecks you. The emmitter on other tanks would line up directly with the fins on the apple. If you look at all Tamiya tanks except the KT the apples sit at nearly the same height. This height happens to be highter than any of the common emmitter mounting points near the guns pivot point.

The low gun mount might actually prove to be disadvantageous since the angle to hit would be greater than normal. Similar to using a slope to defend.

Oh the Lang will be different just not similar to the Jagdpanther.

Lower and longer barrel.

Sorry about that.
