I took the Sherman, the Jeep, and a donkey, up to Tankland today. It was too windy to make a movie but I got some nice still shots. I also took along some of my door and window stickers to see how well they would stick to cinder blocks that had sat outside for 10 years. They stuck okay, and look kind of cool. I didn’t bother to make the doors and windows plumb, the cinder blocks ether for that matter, I just wanted try them out. I’m curious to see how the weather effects them.
This is the first photo shoot with the Jeep, it needs some weathering, but it goes well with the Sherman. The Jeep and the figure are both 1/18[SUP]th[/SUP] scale, but the poor driver had to lose his legs from the knees down to fit behind the steering wheel. He got his legs back later. The donkey, well what can I say, it was only $2. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2163677http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2163678http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2163679http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2163680http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2163681http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2163682http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2163683http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2163684http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2163685 These last three pictures are for Ausf… I don’t have any skeletons, but I do have dinosaurs. If ya gotta face dinosaurs, it’s good to be in a tank! http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2163686http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2163687http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2163688 (Note: No dinosaurs were harmed in the making of these pictures.) |
Those are fun photos to see ---- Ya gotta love those cinder blocks, they are good for making a few types of furniture too !!

Technically, the raptors do have skeletons...
Great pics, love 'em. |
Nice.
But Jeep + Dino's = Meals on Wheels Mal |
AAAH Raptors
|
Was it the Cullen Hedgerow Cutter that took the Raptors out or the bow MG? Great Photos.
|
Looks cool. Kinda remids me if period photos from ITO.
the windows on the blocks look good |
But Jeep + Dino's = Meals on Wheels
The jeep and the driver got away clean... but the donkey, well lets just say he helped the Jeep get away. Was it the Cullen Hedgerow Cutter that took the Raptors out or the bow MG? The tank driver was going for the dinosaurs with the hedge row cutter, but the BOW gunner got excited and... |
Just as I suspected trigger happy beat out the Cullen!!!!
|
Pretty soon I'll have lots of photos and videos of my own to play with, but I figgered I could do one more for ya.

Nice movie dude!
Tankland got paved streets today! I switched out the window stickers for broken windows too. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2164783http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2164784http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2164786http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2164787http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2164788http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2164789http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2164790http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=2164791 |
Very cool Sherman and Jeep.
|
Thanks, the Jeep is just a die cast I got from Amazon, the Sherman is a Mato with some upgrades I did. It's Tamiya battle compatible and the hedge row cutter comes off easy so it wont interfere with maneuvers during a battle.

Do you know where I can get stencils for US tanks? I've ordered my 1st one and I'd like to be able to detail like I have done with my German stuff but I can't seem to find any. Rctanks.de has some stickers but I want stencils, any ideas?
|
I use Archer transfers for the stars and the numbers and letters. I've also made my own stencils for US stars, German crosses, and a German unit emblem too. I don't like decals. I quit using them years ago.
For special stuff, try Airbrushler on this forum, he's a sign painter, a tank dude, and he can make stencils for us other tank dudes. I have a project in mind for him, I just need to put the tank back together first. |
The numbers, and the cross, on the stug in the pictures above, are stencils I made, then painted with a spray can from Wal-Mart.

Thanks!
The paved streets are asphalt roofing shingles left over from a project. My plan is to add more, then paint them with some of that roof patch tar and spread sand on it. When the roof patch tar dries, I'll sweep off the excess sand and have a blacktop road. The cool part is, that when a herd of elk comes through Tankland and punches holes in the road with their hooves, they are like an allied bombing run, they destroy everything they go over, I can just cut out that part of the road and replace it! |
If the elk cause too much damage to your roads you could put a stop to that with a few well placed road mines. That would also get you fresh meat for the freezer. I'm not talking about the mines dogs leave around in the yard ----- those mines are no good for elk control unless you want to pick them up with rubber gloves and throw them at the elk to scare them away.

For elk control, I use something Soviet, something kind a like a scaled down 120 mm anti-tank gun.
7.62 mm x 16 =121.92 mm You ambush them, just like an anti-tank gun would. |
