The gun travel lock shumo makes is for the 105 howitzer, the 76mm had a shorter one, mounted further up on the hull. You should put the ones that were on the mato hull back on they were correct.
other than that good start. What are you using for turrets? |
If you havent seen it yet this will help you

Thanks for the info! But I like the Schumo gun lock a lot and I'll use it... As for the turrets, I hope to get Schumo ones. They're just fantastic. You can see it on y Fury thread.
Little bit more done... http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...18320_1924.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...18323_2323.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...18326_3137.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...18330_4182.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...18333_5989.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...18336_6941.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...18342_7338.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...18345_8613.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...18348_9341.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...8351_10043.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...8354_11901.jpg |
That's really sweet work and you're truly gifted with the brass. The front and side fender extensions looks really nice.
I cheated on my build and grafted the Tamiya fenders onto Nicks resin A1 hull using heavy brass. It was a labor of love too! Nice to see the progress! Jeff |
Cool! I'll be following, I just bought a HL Sherman off eBay that was dressed up to look like Fury. It's got the wrong turret and the gun isn't right, but it's a start and I really have wanted a Sherman for awhile now.

Where did you find those hulls?

Beautiful work! But that travel lock is still way too tall. Its a 105 which is wrong for these shermans. Sorry, it just jumps out at me. You have it mounted too low for the correct position on a 76mm as well.
Mato makes a nice metal one that would work. ok, I will get off the soapbox and shut up. |
Nice!
|
Really sweet, detailed work!
Makes me want to build another A1E8. Jeff |
Very nice work Eddy, really like the A1 hulls and your detail work.
|
Thanks!
Some update.. In december I finally received the Schumo E8 turrets: http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...47612_1173.jpg And new return rollers to replace Tamiya ones for the r/c twin: http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...47618_3971.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...47615_2708.jpg And the static twin is already finished: http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...47437_1284.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...47440_2253.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...47444_3440.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...47447_4627.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...47450_5610.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...47453_6164.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...47456_7701.jpg http://www.bmwpower.lv/files/member_...47459_8841.jpg to be continued... |
:o Beautiful!
|
That looks great, love the loaders hatch spring detail.
|
So the shumo turrets, what kind of barbet ring are they designed to rotate on, tamiya or henglong? Those old mato a1 large hatch huls are HL turret ring if I recall.
How did you set up the turret rotation on your rc one. Very nice. i love the brass work. Im doing alot of my details in brass now, but i would hate to make that much of it from brass and have it bashed up in battles. |

I made the rotation hole bigger, because I'm using Tamiya turret rotation ring and rotation unit. A little bit later I'll post some photos... |
The work is close to the finish...

Very pretty indeed.
I had planned to add the canvas detail to mine but never got around to it. But did fire it up over the weekend... after cleaning an amazing amount of dust off! LOL!!! Keep up with the pictures! Jeff |
