Need Help Please! Question on Tamiya MF Unit and Com Cable

Guys, I have a Tamiya, MF-03 unit from a Pershing in front of me; what does SW3 do? I see no reference to it in the kit's instructions.

Also, I seem to be missing the communications cable that connects the DMD to the MF. where can I get one? Or, can I make one? anyone have the cable's pin diagram so I could make one?

Thanks,

SPringman

I think the SW3 is a self test switch or teaching mode switch for transmitter, trim and default settings.

I am sure one of the more seasoned Tamiya gurus will chime in.

You can get a comm cable from AAF. They are pretty cheap and not worth the hassle in my opinion making one.

Shorty's correct... the switch puts it in self diagnostic mode.

Are you in the USA, if so I have an extra cable you can have so just drop me a PM where you want it sent.

Thanks guys! I had to order two other parts and they had all of it at the AAF - so I decided to buy 2 of them and have a spare of my own - I do want to thank everyone for the help on it though - especially Panther F for the offer of his spare.

On SW3, is there any data on its use and/or this "Self-Diagnostic-Mode"?

Thanks again,

Springman

You should have the smaller "Operation Manual" that came with the Assembly Booklet that goes over the procedure PLUS explains how to use the rev feature so the tank can be placed into gear.

No, I have just the instruction manual for the general build. How can I get one?

The MF/DMD operations manuals are tough to find online. Try Tamiyausa.com. This it what is looks like.

Tamiya USA have the Sherman and Tiger manuals available for download - these ones have the DMD instructions in them

Yep... you are correct, THOSE do have the self-diagnostic procedure in the assembly manual.

At that time we did not know he was without the smaller booklet and for the Pershing they put everything in that booklet. :(
