I saw this pic on the net and had to post it here. Guess we were trying all kinds of different things during WWII.

Im pretty sure that was for exploding mines.

That's right, they used the M4 Sherman as a platform on many trials & prototypes for different weapons. There were quite a few versions of the Mine Exploder/Excavators before using the T1E3 (Aunt Jemima) in limited production.

after reading that they had alot of different prototypes, I went searching and found these.
