Started on the weathering, streaking and dot filters. This was complicated by some issues with the paint, the ammo colours I used are acrylic but some how the when it soaked in the turpentine I used to streak the oils just took the paint off down to the primer. This meant I couldn't manipulate the oils to the extent I normally would. I think a coat of future and then testors dullcote should give the finish some more resilience and give a base to finish weathering. I've also painted the tow cables, rusted the exhaust, machine gun and done some.other touch ups. Thanks Erik! Hey guys, little bit more progress on the super Pershing, I was having issues with the turpentine stripping the top coat, so I found some original formula Klear (future) so am using that to seal her before I continue.
Whilst I'm waiting for my testors dullcote to arrive I made a start on the stowage, I had hoped to use it to add some variation to the model but all the references I could find showed that they should be OD, I'm still trying with trying the famous of and some mixes of the two to add variation. Also I've added half of the sol Sherman crew. These resin figures are superb, they fit perfectly and should add some extra interest to the model. Now here comes the scary part, the final dull coat. I've read so many horror stories of projects having a final coat and the lacquer blooming so much the model goes white and is a write off. With buttocks suitably clenched I tested on a wheel. Hmm was that a hint of lightening. No just the lighting. So took the plundge and did the tank. I'm pretty happy with the final result. Will let it properly cute and then on to mud glorious mud!Attachment 2262765Attachment 2262766Attachment 2262767Attachment 2262768Attachment 2262769

Ah, yes. The dullcoat fears. Ever since Testors changed the formula, I dread doing dullcoat. It ain't dull no mo'.

Hi Painless, that's an excellent reference! I need to start buying a reference book for each of my builds.
Morning (I'll try and get some better photos when I'm not work during the only daylight hours [emoji2357]). Made a start on the Super P mud and grime now the Matt clears properly dry. Using my usual mix of pigment, acrylic resin, plaster and when darkening added ammo black into the mix. As usual it looks great when applied and drying but when full dried out the dark wet parts greatly fade loosing the contracts and wet/dry effects. This time I tried something a little different. Had some ak wet effects in the draw which I've never used properly but thought what's the worst. This stuff as far as I can tell is viscous enamel gloss clear but it so far is doing what it says on the tin!Attachment 2262782Attachment 2262783Attachment 2262784Attachment 2262785Attachment 2262786Attachment 2262787Attachment 2262788Attachment 2262789Attachment 2262790Attachment 2262791Attachment 2262792Attachment 2262793Attachment 2262794Attachment 2262795 Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk |

Continuing on with the mud, l wanted to try and make the tank look like the crew had been clambering over it, so adding mud to the areas around the hatches. As the sponsors are cut but there plenty of splatter over the tool boxes and the side of the turret. I've added wet effects in the crevices by the hatches to represent wet mud which hasn't dried, and around the water filler cap. The stowage has only had its base coat, modulation and filter so far, peddinghaus send me the wrong set :(. I think the turret roof could use a bit more mud. Lastly I've added the effect for the cupola periscope glass. I used exposed 35mm film cut down to fit. This covers the bits I milled out and has the added bonus of being a visible light filter but allows IR to pass. Still to.do, finish mud, weather tracks, paint crew and find ISH stowage.Attachment 2262800Attachment 2262801Attachment 2262802Attachment 2262803Attachment 2262804Attachment 2262805Attachment 2262806Attachment 2262807Attachment 2262808Attachment 2262809Attachment 2262810Attachment 2262811Attachment 2262812Attachment 2262813Attachment 2262814Attachment 2262815Attachment 2262816Attachment 2262817Attachment 2262818Attachment 2262819Attachment 2262820Attachment 2262821Attachment 2262822Attachment 2262823

More done on the super P, replacement decals came from Peddinghaus (superb service), so I got cracking with the stowage. Finished the bed rolls and added decals to the ammo boxes. Weathered up and fitted to the tank. I've also made a start on the two crew figures.
