I have been waiting for the right moment to get a 1/6 tank for a long time. Due to the weight , my car trunk’s size, Tiger I is not the ideal choice for me.Earlier Nov 2018, when I am ready to order the Armortek Panzer III, the Luchs is in stock.Normally , it takes 1 year to wait after the full amount is paid. Yeah, not a deposit, but the full amount. This is the last delivery from Metalbox, as they are busy with some movie projects, and they won’t be supplying for a period of time. Also, this is the 1st time they supply tanks as assembly kits. It took 4 days for the kit to arrive from Beijing to Shanghai. Despite of some minor screw hole mis alignment problem of the hull bottom plate, the building is quite straight forward. However, the Electronics are very basic. The sound card is just making sound ,rather than Sound Effect. I also found they adopted an un-open circuit design which leaves me no choice but to replace all of them with Open Panzer TCB, Benedini sound mini, Sabertooth 2*32 ESC. |

love it, if I may ask, what did it set you back for the kit??
|
Really cool detail work!

Nice - Larryzhou, I never heard you could get it as a kit. Now you can primer, paint everything and Loctite all screws properly. Mine had a number of loose or missing screws.
Did the kit come with the jack brackets, rear blackout light, side angle bracket and pioneer tools or are you scratch building those? Mine is/was missing all of that hardware except headlamps, gas can brackets and side bins. Will be great to follow your build. -Bob |
Very nice looking. Looks like a quality kit. Following along mark |

I am not a native English speaker, I didn’t get what you mean . Do you mean the things I dont’t Like about the kit? if that’s the case, the only thing I don’t like about it is its sound card & control board. |
No ,the tools, jacks, spare track links, Fuel cans are all optional. They charged me an additional 405USD for it. I first contacted them at the beginning of 2017 about the releasing of Luchs assembly kit. They asked me to pay the full amount and wait for 12 months for its delivery. So , this time I paid immediately I heard it was in stock.

did many hours of online research, and found out the kit doesn't come with many details. I added as many as I can.

Looking great Larryzhou. Would be nice to build from kit, much easier to paint everything.
I guess I will make my own detail parts. They are probably not available anymore from MB anyway. Their website is gone. Are you planning on adding periscope etc? I was thinking of 3D print some periscope for hatches. Attachment 2263080 Yeah I had to pay full amount for mine too. Then wait a year. I began to think I lost all my money. :) Looking good! B |
Hello Larry, I envy you got MB's last shipment. I live in Hangzhou so hope to see your wonderful build one day.

B Attachment 2263081 Let me know if I can be of assistance. If I can get this software snafu on the SLA printer figgered out so I can make it print the quality of accessories will only get better. |
Hi Gary/CRIUS
No printer for me yet. I use Shapeways to print my stuff. Their detail and super-detail resin is pretty nice. That Jerry can looks fantastic! Hard to tell its not DID/Dragon. I could really use some US cans! What resins do you have for your Creality? Perhaps lets discuss on 3D print thread rather than highjack Larryzhous' thread? :) B |

found some solid reference photos. Now , I know how its hull hatches are operated.
http://www.panzer-modell.de/referenz.../pz2l/006g.jpg Sd.Kfz. 123 Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf. L "Luchs" I also found a very interesting video clip, its builder makes it firing!! anyone has idea how it works? it seems super! |
Hi Larryzhou,
I was to surprised that drivers and radio op hatches open down onto operator. But there is no room to open outward because of the turret. I would think this would make it harder for someone to exist the vehicle in emergency. The gun is a .22cal blank firing gun. It has motor which rotates a cylinder like a revolver and fires up to 20 blanks before reloading. It was designed by IIya Cerjak several years ago. He offered the plans for free (I have a set) but have not made the gun yet. The gun fires .22 cal blanks like used in nail guns - but no projectile (for obvious reasons). It does look and sound impressive. B . |
I looked into some of IIya Cerjak's designs. I even priced out the gearbox he had the plans for free online. Problem was the components outlined cost over $500 without the custom machining needed for the gearbox. Was much cheaper to just do electric power in my 1/6th scale stuff. I realize this is the blank firing mechanism, but it won't be cheap to build. More power to you if you get one built. It's still a great project.

Awesome Build! Lucky for you for sure. Wouldn't get to worried about the details as they changed and were modified like any other tank. Even in the small amount of production on the Luchs it had an "early" and "mid" production. Biggest give away is the rear turret hatch. Don't have reference in front of me but one was more square and the other rectagonal. Also the Compass mount bracket on top of the turret in front right of the commanders hatch was later in production.

I think this is the way the gun worked.

After the Spring Festival , all electronics will be fitted in to it. |
I absolutely can not wait to see video of this little puppy in action. I doubt metalbox will ever be available to me, but you've got me seriously thinking about the Dragon Panzer II. just what I need, another project!! ;)
