Request for tests
I've been reviewing my hobby website as I've had Google tell me it's not mobile friendly. I've made changes to
implement a viewport and responsive images so resources resize appropriate to a device. My request is if you use a handheld, tablet or pad to access the 'net please take a look at least on my index page to see if it looks ok. http://tanks.linite.com I've not gotten around to all the pages yet but I'm working on it. Google now says my main page is mobile supportive as well as a few others so it's a work in progress. I personally use desktops with fairly large monitors after years as a developer so I don't always see the issue( in none of my professional gigs were our apps supported on handhelds, impractical to do so due to sheer volume of data). If you don't use mobile devices no need to comment here unless something is really wrong, PM is preferable. Thanks in advance Jerry |
Your web site gets an unsafe do not use warning from my Norton anti virus software on my iPad. |
Hi Jerry ! On my iPhone it looks good. When I try the old iPad the content is very small, it doesn’t auto resize for the larger device. Cheers Mark |
No problem, using an S8 with Samsung internet & McAfee LiveSafe.

Looks good on my samsung, using google chrome.
I also went there on the desktop and if it's OK I have a couple comments. First, I like it. A U.S. based site for large scale is quite welcome. Second, Jerry, I know you deal mainly in 1/10 but for those that don't it might be helpful to include scale in the project titles, and maybe a photo for each would be good? We all know men are visual creatures so I personally tend to click and look at a project quicker if there's some eye candy to catch my eye. Third, I like the service and repair addition, but I almost missed it because it just said new service. If it had said new repair service it would've popped out at me much more. 4th, the 1/16 section is a good idea, and I think it will help more guys cross over to larger scales just due to the exposure they'll get when they're here for 16th info. That would also support the idea of photos with project titles, so when a guy comes here looking for 16th info he'll be tempted by the photos to look closer at larger scales. As for the photos that are up, they look good. Nice and crisp and good content. That 16th Elefant is a freakin' jewel and that's a great photo showing off the massive amounts of detail. So just my opinion, and we all know about those, but hopefully the feedback will help you look at the site through fresh eyes. I liked it very much, bookmarked it, and I'll be checking in from time to time to see how you're doin'. :) One more thing - I went to sign the guestbook and a computer dummy like me got a bit confused. I clicked where it said "sign up" and it took me to an advertisement. I'll check back there again, maybe a clear button to sign the guestbook? Or at least clear enough for a computer impaired Gomer like me? Hmmm, that might be asking a lot, making anything easy enough for a Gomer like me. ;) |
Thanks Crius and the rest of you. The website has been up a long time, started on Geocities in the late-mid 1990s and I was able to have the use of
a trusted friend's( and former work colleague) server when Geocities went poof. I will look into making some of the suggested updates as time and my abilities allow. In my time as a software developer I was never a foo-foo kind of guy; I worked on the back end sever and db apps; I think I preferred that aspect as it was more technologically stable versus the GUI( presentation layer or Graphical User Interface) side for which darling GUI approaches seem to fall in and out of favor every few months. I've not updated the format much, never being one to make pretty websites, to me it's all about info but I want to respond to display issues and concerns. Have no idea why I tripped Norton's concern. I use it on my main pc as well.. Jerry |
Update. No Norton issue on iPad (2017) today. Works well on iPhone Max too. Have visited your site several times in the past on pc. |
