Need help with electronics

I recently reached the point in my Tamiya M51 build where I was supposed to test the electronics. Everything seemed straightforward but when I tested the tank, all of the controls seem to be reversed. When I push the stick forward, that tank run in reverse, when I turn right the tank goes left. I've checked the connections several times but I have no answer. Also, my manual says that my receiver should have a wire that goes to my antennae but there is no wire and seems that there never was. Lastly, where can I buy a battle system for my tank? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Forgot to mention that this is a Tamiya M51 tank.

What Radio are you using?

Double check how you hooked up the motor wiring.

I'm using the Tamiya transmitter that came with the tank and I have triple checked my wiring and even though I had it right, I still tried moving those combinations around. Tank didn't work at all then so I'm back to the transmitter working backwards. Thanks for the heads up on the battle system.

Things to try to fix your electronics.

Firstly, you might wish to identify the model of your radio clearly if you want specific help on this forum. Tamiya tanks sold by US vendors do not come packaged with radios. Likely, you've got your kit from somewhere else, so it would be helpful to know what radio model you have.

Secondly, you likely have a radio problem and not a tank problem. You may need to reverse your servo signals using the radio to correct the reversed tank controls. See my photo attached for where the servo reverse switches normally are on a typical Tamiya radio transmitter. FYI, Tamiya has recently released a "Fine Spec" radio that looks different than the radio pictured below. You might have that one instead. I suggest you read your radio manual thoroughly, or do an internet search for how to reverse servos on a radio transmitter. Should yield some interesting facts for you.

Lastly, your radio is 2.4ghz, and 2.4ghz radios do not need the receiver to be hardwired to the external antenna to operate. Your tank kit was built for a radios that needed a hard wire connection from the receiver to the antenna mounted on the tank body.

Enjoy!

Thanks much!

Hey Jeff489, thank you so much for your reply. I'd like to mention that I purchased my tank from a seller in Japan and it was a complete kit with the transmitter included and you were absolutely correct, it was a 2.4Ghz Finespec transmitter. What's more, you were also correct that the solution was in the transmitter. My problem was that all of my previous tanks were Heng Long tanks and I had absolutely no experience with this type of transmitter at all. On the brights side, after reading the Finespec manual I now know how to setup options that I have long wanted. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for your help.
